Hypoglycemic activity of Artemisia herba alba
Journal of Ethnopharmacology, 1988Artemisia herba alba has been widely used in Iraqi folk medicine for the treatment of diabetes mellitus. Oral administration of an aqueous extract (0.39 g/kg) of the aerial parts of this plant to normoglycemic and to alloxan-diabetic rabbits produced significant hypoglycemic activity, which was consistent and time-dependent.

Antibacterial Activity of Artemisia Herba-Alba
Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1979The antibacterial activity of Artemisia herba-alba was investigated. Only its essential oil was active against some Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. The essential oil was fractionated by column chromatography, and these fractions were tested for antibacterial activity. The principal component of the most active fraction was santolina alcohol.

Eudesmanolides from Artemisia herba-alba
Phytochemistry, 1996Extraction of aerials parts of Artemisia herba-alba and chromatographic separation yielded, in addition to several known eudesmanolides, a new eudesmanolide which has been named herbalbin. The structure was elucidated by high field NMR techniques.

Fungicidal Activity of Artemisia herba alba Asso (Asteraceae)
Journal of Environmental Science and Health, Part B: Pesticides, Food Contaminants, and Agricultural Wastes, 2006The antifungal activity of Artemisia herba alba was found to be associated with two major volatile compounds isolated from the fresh leaves of the plant. Carvone and piperitone were isolated and identified by GC/MS, GC/IR, and NMR spectroscopy. Antifungal activity was measured against Penicillium citrinum (ATCC 10499) and Mucora rouxii (ATCC 24905 ...

New oxygenated eudesmanolides from artemisia herba-alba
Tetrahedron, 1990Abstract The aerial parts of Artemisia herba-alba Asso subsp.valentina Lam. (Asteraceae) yielded the new eudesmanolides 1-11 and the new sesquiterpene-monoterpene adducts 12-13. The absolute configuration of compound 6 was confirmed with the aid of X-ray diffraction analysis.

Sesquiterpene lactones from Algerian Artemisia herba-alba
Phytochemistry Letters, 2008Abstract The phytochemical investigation of the methylene chloride/methanol extract of the aerial parts of Artemisia herba-alba afforded two new natural sesquiterpene lactones 1β,9β-diacetoxyeudesm-3-en-5α,6β,11β H -12,6-olide ( 1 ) and 1β,9β-diacetoxyeudesm-4-en-6β,11β H -12,6-olide ( 2 ).

Sesquiterpene lactones from Artemisia herba-alba subsp. Herba-alba
Phytochemistry, 1989Abstract Extraction of aerial parts of Artemisia herba-alba subsp. herba-alba and chromatographic separation yielded, in addition to known compounds, three new germacranolides and four new eudesmanolides. The question about the structures of artesin and its 11-epimer is discussed.
