Effect of the Blood Vessel Viscoelasticity on Periodic Blood Pressure Wave Propagation

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Science and Technology, 2009
Clinical arterial stiffness indexes such as PWV (pulse wave velocity) or PP (pulse pressure), which are obtained by analyzing blood pressure pulse waveforms in vivo, are used in the prognosis of cardiovascular diseases and thus analyses of pulse waveform

Biologically‐Inspired Melt Electrowriting for the Generation of Highly Biomimetic Functional Myocardium

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, melt electrowriting is used to fabricate a 3D printed scaffold design that generates engineered cardiac tissues with in‐plane contraction, mimicking natural myocardium. It is shown that these tissues display advanced maturation and functionality.

Flow Analysis of Viscoelastic Tube Using One-Dimensional Numerical Simulation Model

open access: yesJournal of Biomechanical Science and Engineering, 2006
In order to analyze the pressure wave propagation in circulatory systems, we previously presented a one-dimensional numerical flow simulation model that describes wave propagation in silicone tubes well and shows that the viscoelasticity of the tube has ...

Electric Pulse Regulated MXene Based Nanozymes for Integrative Bioelectricity Immuno‐Cancer Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
MXenzyme‐mediated bioelectricity cancer therapy (MXenzyme‐BECT) enhances cancer cell death through irreversible depolarization, ion channel disruption, ROS generation, and immunogenic cell death. Computational simulations reveal the electrical mechanisms by which MXenzyme acts on single cells and support to predict treatment parameters. Next‐generation

Inactivating Variants in ANGPTL4 and Risk of Coronary Artery Disease.

open access: yesNew England Journal of Medicine, 2016
BACKGROUND Higher-than-normal levels of circulating triglycerides are a risk factor for ischemic cardiovascular disease. Activation of lipoprotein lipase, an enzyme that is inhibited by angiopoietin-like 4 (ANGPTL4), has been shown to reduce levels of ...
