Cerebral artery dilatation maintains cerebral oxygenation at extreme altitude and in acute hypoxia : an ultrasound and MRI study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Transcranial Doppler is a widely used noninvasive technique for assessing cerebral artery blood flow. All previous high altitude studies assessing cerebral blood flow (CBF) in the field that have used Doppler to measure arterial blood velocity have ...

Identifying transcription factors controlling the basal expression of human MRP4 highlights a substantial role for Sp1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Association of Obstructive Sleep Apnea With Cardiovascular Events in Acute Coronary Syndrome Patients With or Without Excessive Daytime Sleepiness: A Prospective Cohort Study

open access: yesReviews in Cardiovascular Medicine
Background: Excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS) is a commonly observed symptom in people with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). However, the impact of EDS on the outcome of patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and OSA is not known ...

The Impact of Systemic Inflammation Response Index on the Prognosis of Patients with ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction Undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention

open access: yesReviews in Cardiovascular Medicine, 2023
Background: Inflammation is essential in cardiovascular disease (CVD) development and progression. A novel inflammatory parameter, the systemic inflammation response index (SIRI), has been proven to predict cancer prognosis strongly.

Arterial graft extension with radial artery: a method of total arterial revascularization [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, 2004
A method of total arterial revascularization is presented. This technique is based on the extension of a semi-skeletonized right internal thoracic artery graft with an entire radial artery in an end to end fashion. A complete arterial revascularization is achieved with a bilateral in situ internal thoracic artery strategy preserving the left internal ...

UiO‐66 metal–organic frameworks in biomedicine: From structural tunability to bioimaging, photodiagnostics, and photodynamic cancer therapy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UiO‐66(Zr) metal–organic frameworks are chemically stable, biocompatible, and highly tunable nanomaterials. Their modular structure enables controlled drug delivery, multimodal bioimaging, and light‐activated photodynamic therapy, supporting integrated diagnostic and therapeutic (theranostic) applications in cancer and biomedical research.

Impact of Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Triglyceride Glucose Index on Cardiovascular Events in Acute Coronary Syndrome Patients: A Post-Hoc Analysis of the OSA–ACS Study

open access: yesReviews in Cardiovascular Medicine
Background: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is highly prevalent in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). The triglyceride glucose (TyG) index is considered closely linked to cardiovascular risk.
