Nematophagous Fungi Occurrence: Prediction Using Bioclimatic Variables
This study aimed to identify bioclimatic variables that favour the occurrence of three fungal species of the genus Arthrobotrys. For this purpose, 122 samples were collected from agricultural soils, 41 of which were positive for nematophagous fungi.

Synchronization of oscillatory growth prepares fungal hyphae for fusion
Communication is crucial for organismic interactions, from bacteria, to fungi, to humans. Humans may use the visual sense to monitor the environment before starting acoustic interactions.

Biodiversity of intertidal estuarine fungi on Phragmites at Mai Po Marshes, Hong Kong [PDF]
Intertidal decaying stems and leaf sheaths of Phragmites australis were randomly collected and their mycota examined. Sixty one species of fungi were associated with the decaying stems and leaf sheaths, including Antiptodera spp., Lignincola laevis ...

Metabolism of Valine by the Filamentous Fungus Arthrobotrys conoides [PDF]
Uptake of valine by Arthrobotrys conoides was an active process and was independent of its incorporation into cellular protein. Chemical fractionation of cells supplied with 14 C- l -valine for different time intervals revealed that the amino acid initially entered a ...

Survey of Nematode-Destroying Fungi from Selected Vegetable-Growing Areas in Kenya
Plant-parasitic nematodes cause severe damage to a wide range of economic crops, causing upto 5% yield losses globally. In Kenya, vegetables are affected, among other pests, by parasitic nematodes, causing upto 80% loss in yield.

The use of predatory fungi of the genus Arthrobotrys isolated from soil in the farmlands of Southern Kazakhstan to control nematode infections in tomato plants [PDF]
In Kazakhstan, parasitic nematodes affect up to 35-40% of the harvest of sugar beets, potatoes and tomatoes. Until recently, сhemical nematicides were used to control nematode numbers but posed risks of toxicity to humans and animals, and their ...

Nutrição e crescimento do fungo nematófago Arthrobotrys oligospora [PDF]
