Nutrient availability and invader density regulate the diversity–invasibility relationship mediated by soil microbes

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, Volume 39, Issue 10, Page 2717-2729, October 2025.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Elton's biotic resistance hypothesis, which proposes that diverse plant communities are more resistant to biological invasions, has received considerable experimental support.

CONTROLE IN VITRO DE LARVAS INFECTANTES DE CIATOSTOMÍNEOS (NEMATODA: CYATHOSTOMINAE) DE EQUINOS UTILIZANDO OS FUNGOS PREDADORES Duddingtonia flagrans, Monacrosporium thaumasium e Arthrobotrys robusta

IbPIF1 confers stem nematode resistance by regulating secondary metabolites in sweet potato

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 23, Issue 10, Page 4650-4664, October 2025.
Summary The stem nematode (Ditylenchus destructor Thorne) is a pervasive and destructive plant‐parasitic nematode worldwide, inflicting severe agricultural and economic losses in a wide range of crops. Despite its global impact, the molecular mechanisms underlying plant resistance to this pathogen remain poorly understood. Our previous studies in sweet

A novel Arthrobotrys species: Taxonomic characterization, nematicidal activity, and multi-omics insights into nematode predation

open access: yesBiological Control
Bursaphelenchus xylophilus, the pinewood nematode (PWN), is a devastating invasive pest responsible for widespread mortality in global conifer forests. During a survey of bark beetle-associated fungi, a nematode-trapping fungus was isolated from an empty

Ecoenzymes as Indicators of Compost to Suppress Rhizoctonia solani [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Reports of disease suppression by compost are inconsistent likely because there are no established standards for feedstock material, maturity age for application, and application rate.

Farming System and Nematodes Affect the Rhizosphere Microbiome of Tropical Banana Plants

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 17, Issue 4, August 2025.
The banana crops showed a core microbiome of 77 ASV, mostly belonging to Proteobacteria, Actinobacteria, and Bacilli. Specific groups of bacteria and fungi were linked to each nematode species or feeding group, with a core microbiome of correlated taxa found only when considering nematodes by feeding groups.

The Interaction Between the Nematode Caenorhabditis elegans and Its Coexisting Fungal Microbiome Member Barnettozyma californica

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 17, Issue 4, August 2025.
Barnettozyma californica is a member of the fungal microbiome of the model nematode Caenorhabditis elegans and can serve as food for worms. When combined with E. coli, this fungus can increase population growth and reduce foraging behaviour dependent on C. elegans genotype, revealing a genetic influence on host‐fungus‐bacterium interactions.
