New information on Titanichthys (Placodermi, Arthrodira) from the Cleveland Shale (Upper Devonian) of Ohio, USA [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Paleontology, 2017
AbstractThe placoderm Titanichthys from the Late Devonian (Famennian) is based on incomplete and fragmentary specimens that have hindered understanding of its overall anatomy and phylogenetic relationships. A new, nearly complete, articulated specimen from the Upper Devonian Cleveland Shale provides new information about the previously undescribed ...

Taxonomic revision of buchanosteoid placoderms (Arthrodira) from the Early Devonian of south-eastern Australia and Arctic Russia

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Zoology, 2014
The ‘buchanosteid’ placoderms are best known from the Early Devonian of Australia, but also occur in China, Russia, Central Asia and the Middle East. Here we rediagnose the type species Buchanosteus confertituberculatus (Hills 1936) from the type locality at Buchan, Victoria, in the light of new material of both head and trunk shields.

Functional anatomy, jaw mechanisms, and feeding behavior of Dunkleosteus terrelli (Placodermi, Arthrodira)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record
Abstract The comparative and functional anatomy of the cleaver‐like jaws of the Late Devonian arthrodire Dunkleosteus terrelli remains poorly understood, despite significant advances in our understanding of arthrodire anatomy. Here, we re‐investigate the jaw morphology of

V.—Notes on some Upper Devonian Arthrodira from Ohio, U.S.A., in the British Museum (Natural History) [PDF]

open access: yesGeological Magazine, 1911
Some years ago the British Museum acquired from Dr. William Clark a collection of the remarkable Arthrodira found by him in the Upper Devonian shales of Ohio. In this material there are several specimens which were described as new before being brought to Europe, but concerning which there has been more or less doubt among students of the Arthrodira ...
