Stemmed revision arthroplasty for aseptic loosening of total knee replacement
The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. British volume, 1985Fifty-three failed knee replacements were revised using minimally constrained implants with smooth uncemented intramedullary stems and metal-backed tibial components. Polymethylmethacrylate was used only to replace lost bone near the surface of the implant.

Total Knee Arthroplasty Following Prior Unicompartmental Replacement
2005The majority of failed UKAs are revised to TKA. If appropriate indications are met, liner exchange or revision to another UKA are possible, but in general, these procedures have poor longevity and a higher failure rate. Revisions of failed UKA to TKA appear to have a slightly inferior outcome when compared to primary TKA but better outcome than ...

MANAGEMENT OF THE PATELLA DURING REVISION TOTAL KNEE REPLACEMENT ARTHROPLASTY
Orthopedic Clinics of North America, 1998Managing the patella and balancing the patellofemoral joint space is one of the most difficult aspects of performing a primary total knee replacement (TKR). The situation is compounded in the revision situation. Unfortunately, an otherwise well-performed TKR will fail because of problems with the patella or the extensor mechanism.

Revision total knee arthroplasty after failed unicompartmental knee replacement
2012The place of unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA) in the management of unicompartmental knee arthritis is still under debate. Some advantages of UKA over tricompartmental knee replacement were highlighted: better proprioception due to preservation of the cruciate ligaments, higher range of motion, faster functional recovery (1), lower rate of ...

One hundred and thirty knees (112 patients) in which the intramedullary adjustable total knee prosthesis was inserted were followed for four to nine years. This prosthesis is designed to permit unconstrained rotation and includes a metal tray supporting the high-density-polyethylene tibial component as well as an intramedullary stem and two condylar ...
