Control failure risk, resistance and enzymatic activity of neurotoxic insecticides in Brazilian populations of Leucoptera coffeella (Lepidoptera: Lyonetiidae)

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 6, Page 5757-5766, June 2026.
Bioassays of 36 Leucoptera coffeella populations revealed resistance to neurotoxic insecticides, control failures of ≤62.9% and enzyme activity variation, with particularly high GST and low AChE levels. Abstract Background Leucoptera coffeella is a key pest of coffee crops in Brazil, causing significant damage by mining coffee leaves.

Tick‐Tac‐Foe: When Ticks, Trade, and Zoonotic Pathogens Align in African Wet Meat Markets

open access: yesPublic Health Challenges, Volume 5, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Zoonotic diseases account for over ∼60% of infectious diseases and present a significantly growing fatality threat in Africa. Live and wet markets (LWMs) in Africa function as key economic venues that support human livelihoods through social interaction and trade in food stuff, including meat and other animal‐based products.

Biological Pesticides as Viable Alternative to Synthetic Pesticides for Sustainable Agriculture and Nutrition: A Systematic Review

open access: yesJournal of Sustainable Agriculture and Environment, Volume 5, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT The overuse of synthetic pesticides in agriculture has raised significant environmental and health concerns. Biopesticides have emerged as viable, environmentally compatible alternatives. However, recent comprehensive reviews integrating all biopesticide categories and emphasizing their contribution to synthetic‐pesticide‐free and health‐safe ...

Developing together: The elementome and biogeochemical niche of the mutualistic occupants of a fig microcosm

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, Volume 40, Issue 6, Page 1836-1849, June 2026.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract In brood‐site pollination mutualisms, where flowers provide nutrition and shelter to pollinator offspring in exchange for pollination, resource allocation to inflorescences is directly related to plant and pollinator fitness.

Interplay of Diet, Heat Stress, and the Microbiome Shapes Health and Escape Behaviour in Amphibian Larvae

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology, Volume 28, Issue 6, June 2026.
Diet and temperature jointly shape the gut microbiome and host performance in amphibian larvae. In a multifactorial experiment with Rana temporaria, diet quality, rearing temperature, and heatwave exposure altered microbial communities and predicted metabolic pathways, while host health remained largely stable, suggesting microbiome plasticity and ...
