LsFAMeT and LsJHAMT coordinate JH biosynthesis to regulate fecundity in Laodelphax striatellus

The small brown planthopper (SBPH), Laodelphax striatellus, can trigger large‐scale outbreaks when encountering suitable habitats during migration due to their strong reproductive ability. This study investigated the role of juvenile hormone (JH) in regulating SBPH reproduction.

Edges as ecological filters: Asymmetrical orientation‐specific arthropod activity across forest boundaries

Insect Science, EarlyView.
Moderate retention forestry creates structurally sharp forest edges that act as ecological filters, shaping orientation‐specific activity of ground‐dwelling arthropods. Using drift‐fence pitfall traps, we show that activity aligned with ecotones is more frequent than activity across forest–clearcut boundaries, particularly among detritivores.

Monitoring spirodiclofen resistance in female Brevipalpus yothersi (Acari: Tenuipalpidae) from citrus orchards in Southeastern Brazil

Spirodiclofen resistance levels in B. yothersi varied geographically across the Brazilian citrus belt, with higher resistance in the central region. Sublethal effects included reduced oviposition, increased non‐viable eggs and disrupted female reproduction.

The amino terminal domain of the human α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor subunit leads to the functional expression of human/insect receptors

Human α7 receptors have been characterised in terms of pharmacological properties. Insertion of the N‐terminal domain of the human α7 subunit leads to honeybee and cockroach chimeric receptors activated by ACh and inhibited by α‐Bgt. Insertion of the human cys‐loop leads to cockroach chimeric receptors modulated by PNU.
