Muscle Control of an Extra Robotic Digit

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This study compares muscle‐ and movement‐based control for operating a supernumerary robotic thumb. While movement control performs better in the proposed tasks, muscle‐based (EMG) control promotes broader motor learning. The results highlight the promise and challenges of using biosignals for human augmentation, offering new insights into intuitive ...

A comparative study to evaluate the discrepancy in condylar guidance values between two commercially available arcon and non-arcon articulators: A clinical study

open access: yesIndian Journal of Dental Research, 2011
Aim: The purpose of this study was comparative evaluation of sagittal condylar values of arcon and non-arcon articulators with cephalometric readings and to determine the amount of discrepancy in sagittal condylar guidance values between arcon and non ...

Multimodal Human–Robot Interaction Using Human Pose Estimation and Local Large Language Models

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A multimodal human–robot interaction framework integrates human pose estimation (HPE) and a large language model (LLM) for gesture‐ and voice‐based robot control. Speech‐to‐text (STT) enables voice command interpretation, while a safety‐aware arbitration mechanism prioritizes gesture input for rapid intervention.

Backness Agreement in Consonant + Glide Onsets: Evidence from Mandarin

open access: yesGlossa
This paper extends Duanmu’s (2000, 2007) analysis of Mandarin consonant–glide (CG) onsets by arguing that articulator dissimilation alone cannot account for the full range of grammatical and ungrammatical onset clusters.

Efficient and Robust Standing Postures of Quadruped Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A calibrated static framework estimates load, optimizes torques, and adapts posture so quadruped robots stand efficiently and robustly under external payloads, achieving up to 50% lower torque demand. Inspired by the natural posture adjustments of animals under external loading, this article presents an optimization‐based framework for minimizing joint

A study on the accuracy of horizontal condylar guidance values in edentulous patients using preprosthetic diagnostic radiographs

open access: yesThe Journal of Indian Prosthodontic Society, 2018
Context: Determination of horizontal condylar guidance (HCG) by various clinical and radiographic methods was performed by several investigators. If a correlation between HCG values using lateral radiographic tracing and protrusive interocclusal records ...

LLM‐Integrated Human–Robot Interaction System for Microrobots

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This paper proposes an LLM‐based control framework for guiding microrobots using human natural language. This framework can convert the natural human speech into safe and executable command sets for reliable navigation in complex environments. The experimental results show high accuracy and robustness in task performance, demonstrating the potential of

3D‐Printing Aided Rapid Prototyping of Pretensioned Tensegrity Structures for Robotic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Printing, injection molding, and assembly (PMA) is a method for rapid prototyping mesoscale, topologically complex, and tensioned tensegrity structures. In combination with PMA method, two mold design strategies: modular mold and compact channel layout, enable efficiency and scalability for tensegrity fabrication.

Bioinspired Soft‐Skeleton Robotics With Cooperative Shape Transformation and Stiffness Adaptation

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A bioinspired soft‐skeleton robot that integrates variable‐stiffness chain skeletons into a soft textile skin is developed. The chain skeletons are highly flexible initially but can stiffen upon pneumatic actuation, enabling large deformation and enhanced load‐bearing capacity.
