To the Editor.— Neonatologists frequently contend with artifacts produced by medical equipment causing unwanted shadows on chest and abdominal radiographs. These artifacts are frequently caused by monitoring equipment and respiratory tubing. We have not yet encountered cases of religious artifacts causing such distorting images.

Quantization Guided JPEG Artifact Correction
European Conference on Computer Vision, 2020The JPEG image compression algorithm is the most popular method of image compression because of its ability for large compression ratios. However, to achieve such high compression, information is lost.

Is It Real or Is It an Artifact
Ultrasound Quarterly, 2001Sonographic artifacts are inherent to the modality and occur to some extent in every image. This is despite optimal technique and scanning parameters. Artifacts occur in both gray-scale and color Doppler imaging, and though many are readily recognizable as such, occasionally, an artifact may obscure the diagnosis or even create false pathology.

Evaluation of Artifact Subspace Reconstruction for Automatic EEG Artifact Removal
Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2018One of the greatest challenges that hinder the decoding and application of electroencephalography (EEG) is that EEG recordings almost always contain artifacts - non-brain signals.

During the ongoing COVID‐19 pandemic, an artifact with hyperintense signal was observed on the brain images of a number of patients or research subjects, particularly those with heavy body weight and/or increased respiratory rate. The artifact was primarily seen on 3D or 2D sagittal or coronal T2‐weighted images, although it occasionally also appeared ...

Abstract The results of retinoscopic refraction measurements in rabbits are compared with the results of two alternative refraction methods. In one of these methods the response to moving gratings is measured in relation to the added lenspower; in the second method retinoscopy is executed with monochromatic lights. From the results of both methods it

Abrupt narrowing of the male anterior urethra has been increasingly observed during voiding cystourethrography due to extrinsic pressure from a urinal. The true nature of this narrowing must be recognized to avoid misinterpretation.

Trust has been markedly and intensely studied in a wide range of fields including, to name a few, philosophy, psychology, sociology, and economics. It is a common assumption that trust has normative aspects that are irreducible to economic rationality. We examine this claim by using artificial, ideally rational agents.
