Fronthaul Quantization as Artificial Noise for Enhanced Secret Communication in C-RAN

open access: yes, 2017
This work considers the downlink of a cloud radio access network (C-RAN), in which a control unit (CU) encodes confidential messages, each of which is intended for a user equipment (UE) and is to be kept secret from all the other UEs.

Artificial noise assisted secure interference networks with wireless power transfer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Interference alignment (IA) is a remarkable technique to manage interference, and artificial noise (AN) can be utilized to combat one main threat of security, passive eavesdropping.

Lessons Learned: Quality Analysis of Optical Coherence Tomography in Neuromyelitis Optica

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Optical coherence tomography (OCT)‐derived retina measurements are markers for neuroaxonal visual pathway status. High‐quality OCT scans are essential for reliable measurements, but their acquisition is particularly challenging in eyes with severe visual impairment, as often observed in neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders ...

Enhancing the significance of gravitational wave bursts through signal classification [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The quest to observe gravitational waves challenges our ability to discriminate signals from detector noise. This issue is especially relevant for transient gravitational waves searches with a robust eyes wide open approach, the so called all- sky burst ...

Induced internal noise in perceptual artificial scotomas created by surrounding dynamic noise

open access: yesVision Research, 2007
Research has shown that exposure to a homogeneous gray patch surrounded by a dynamic noise background causes filling-in of the artificial scotoma by the twinkling noise from the surround. When the background is switched off, observers report perception of a prolonged patch of twinkling noise in the unstimulated area.

Prediction of Myasthenia Gravis Worsening: A Machine Learning Algorithm Using Wearables and Patient‐Reported Measures

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a rare disorder characterized by fluctuating muscle weakness with potential life‐threatening crises. Timely interventions may be delayed by limited access to care and fragmented documentation. Our objective was to develop predictive algorithms for MG deterioration using multimodal telemedicine data ...
