Pre‐Imaging Clinical Factors Associated With Cardiac MR Image Quality Using Large Language Model‐Enabled Data Extraction

open access: yesJournal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Poor cardiac MR image quality can prompt repeat examinations and hinder clinical decision‐making. Purpose To evaluate whether pre‐imaging clinical information, extracted using a large language model (LLM), is independently associated with cardiac MR image quality. Study Type Retrospective.

Nonthermal plasma approaches for combating implant‐associated infections: A compendious review

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Implant‐associated infections pose serious clinical challenges. Non‐thermal plasma (NTP) modifications overcome this bottleneck in distinct ways relative to traditional sterilization methods. Gas‐phase plasmas generate highly energetic species, UV radiation and reactive oxygen/nitrogen species (RONS), which alter the implant surface properties.

Electrocardiographic signs of hyperkalemia in a patient with a cardiac pacemaker

open access: yesAutopsy and Case Reports, 2011
We report the case of a patient with a dual chamber pacemaker admitted to the emergency room with hyperkalemia. Although the pacemaker was present, the classical sings of hyperkalemia can be seen.

Expanding the Taxonomy of Ethical Issues in Surgical Innovation

open access: yesBioethics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Surgical innovation poses significant ethical challenges. Previous work has grouped these challenges under four categories: potential harms to patients; compromised informed consent; unfair allocation of healthcare resources; and conflicts of interest. We argue that recent technological developments in surgery warrant the addition of three new

Permanent left ventricular pacing from the great cardiac vein of a patient with artificial tricuspid and mitral valves - A case report

open access: yes, 2000
Transvenous placement of a right ventricular pacemaker lead through the artificial tricuspid valve is a known contraindication, and in this situation, epicardial pacemaker implantation is the procedure of choice. However, permanent pacemaker implantation

Circadian Deregulation in Multiple Myeloma: BMAL1/CLOCK Expression Patterns and Diagnostic Performance

open access: yesInternational Journal of Laboratory Hematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Circadian clock disruption has emerged as a relevant axis in cancer; however, the expression patterns and diagnostic relevance of BMAL1 and CLOCK in multiple myeloma (MM) remain insufficiently defined. Methods BMAL1 and CLOCK mRNA expression was quantified by RT‐qPCR in bone marrow samples from 46 newly diagnosed MM patients and 13 ...
