Video-assisted thoracoscopic implantation of a diaphragmatic pacemaker in a child with tetraplegia: indications, technique, and results [PDF]
We report the case of a child with tetraplegia after cervical trauma, who subsequently underwent diaphragmatic pacemaker implantation. We reviewed the major indications for diaphragmatic pacing and the types of devices employed.

Synchronization of the cardiac pacemaker model with delayed pulse-coupling [PDF]
We consider the integrate-and-fire model of the cardiac pacemaker with delayed pulsatile coupling. Sufficient conditions of synchronization are obtained for identical and non-identical oscillators.

Machine learning-based malware detection for IoT devices using control-flow data [PDF]
Embedded devices are specialised devices designed for one or only a few purposes. They are often part of a larger system, through wired or wireless connection. Those embedded devices that are connected to other computers or embedded systems through the Internet are called Internet of Things (IoT for short) devices.

Hematoxylin–eosin (H&E) stains of the heart, liver, lung, and kidney show acute toxicity. Abstract Background To investigate the toxicity of N‐n‐butyl haloperidol iodide (F2), a quaternary ammonium salt derivative of haloperidol, in mice for potential therapeutic purposes. Methods The acute median lethal dose (LD50) of F2 was determined using the Bliss

Intercellular spiral waves of calcium in a two dimensional network of cells [PDF]
It is shown, by means of numerical simulations, that intercellular spiral waves of calcium can be initiated in a network of coupled cells as a result of a de-synchronization between Ca2+ oscillations in two domains. No artificial heterogeneities need to be imposed to the system for spontaneous formation of spiral waves.

Sugar‐sensing swodkoreceptors and swodkocrine signaling
Sugar‐sensing swodkoreceptors that trigger swodkocrine signaling. Abstract Sugars are one of the major metabolites and are essential for nucleic acid synthesis and energy production. In addition, sugars can act as signaling molecules. To study sugar signaling at the systemic level, there is an urgent need to systematically identify sugar‐sensing ...

ABSTRACT Background Transcatheter pulmonary valve replacement (TPVR) has emerged as a valuable treatment for severe pulmonary regurgitation (PR). The Salus valve (Balance Medical Technology Co. Ltd., Beijing, China) represents a novel self‐expanding valve stent designed for deployment through a transthoracic approach with a small subxiphoid incision ...

Towards the Emulation of the Cardiac Conduction System for Pacemaker Testing [PDF]
The heart is a vital organ that relies on the orchestrated propagation of electrical stimuli to coordinate each heart beat. Abnormalities in the heart's electrical behaviour can be managed with a cardiac pacemaker. Recently, the closed-loop testing of pacemakers with an emulation (real-time simulation) of the heart has been proposed.
