We study the coherent control of microwave photons propagating in a superconducting waveguide consisting of coupled transmission line resonators, each of which is connected to a tunable charge qubit. While these coupled line resonators form an artificial

Convergence of a Recombination-Based Elitist Evolutionary Algorithm on the Royal Roads Test Function [PDF]
We present an analysis of the performance of an elitist Evolutionary algorithm using a recombination operator known as 1-Bit-Swap on the Royal Roads test function based on a population. We derive complete, approximate and asymptotic convergence rates for

Intelligent systems in the context of surrounding environment [PDF]
We investigate the behavioral patterns of a population of agents, each controlled by a simple biologically motivated neural network model, when they are set in competition against each other in the Minority Model of Challet and Zhang.

Inbreeding Within an Artificially Bred Dairy Cattle Population
Abstract Purebred artificially bred daughters of 200 Holstein bulls were investigated for the occurrence of inbreeding by utilizing the relationship between their sire (S) and maternal grandsire (MGS). The existence of such a relationship would denote an inbred individual.

Disordered but rhythmic—the role of intrinsic protein disorder in eukaryotic circadian timing
Unstructured domains known as intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) are present in nearly every part of the eukaryotic core circadian oscillator. IDRs enable many diverse inter‐ and intramolecular interactions that support clock function. IDR conformations are highly tunable by post‐translational modifications and environmental conditions, which ...

Population structure in artificial selection programmes: simulation studies
SUMMARYA simulation study was undertaken of methods of subdividing populations into several small sublines and utilizing the variances generated between lines by selecting among them. Crosses of chosen lines were made, and either selection was continued in a single large population (single cycle) or the population was subdivided again (repeated cycles).
