Descriptive, comparative, and functional anatomy of the facial musculature in cattle (Bos taurus)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Facial expressions can provide insight into animal emotions and pain, but no standardized system for assessing the entire facial display in cattle (Bos taurus Linnaeus) exists. The Facial Action Coding System (FACS), originally developed for humans, identifies distinct facial movements based on mimetic muscles.

Maximizing Neurovascular Outcomes of Facial Transplantation: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesClinical Anatomy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Facial transplantation is a division of reconstructive surgery which aims to improve the function and appearance of a face that has endured severe disfigurement. Currently, the face transplant procedure uses allogenic tissue, harvested from a brain‐dead donor, to replace damaged facial components.

Efficient two-dimensional ARX modeling [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of 1st International Conference on Image Processing, 2002
A highly modular normalized adaptive lattice algorithm for multichannel least squares FIR filtering and multivariable system identification, is presented. Multichannel filters with different numbers of delay elements per input channel are allowed. The main features of the proposed multichannel adaptive lattice least squares algorithm are the use of ...

On subset least squares estimation and prediction in vector autoregressive models with exogenous variables

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Statistics, EarlyView.
Abstract We establish the consistency and the asymptotic distribution of the least squares estimators of the coefficients of a subset vector autoregressive process with exogenous variables (VARX). Using a martingale central limit theorem, we derive the asymptotic normal distribution of the estimators. Diagnostic checking is discussed using kernel‐based

Basal ganglia involvement in ARX patients: The reason for ARX patients very specific grasping?

open access: yesNeuroImage: Clinical, 2018
The ARX (Aristaless Related homeoboX) gene was identified in 2002 as responsible for XLAG syndrome, a lissencephaly characterized by an almost complete absence of cortical GABAergic interneurons, and for milder forms of X-linked Intellectual Disability ...

Optimising Outcomes in Endodontic Microsurgery: Evidence, Uncertainties and Future Directions. [PDF]

open access: yesInt Endod J
ABSTRACT Endodontic microsurgery (EMS) is a reliable treatment modality for managing persistent or recurrent periapical pathologies, particularly when conventional nonsurgical retreatment is infeasible or has failed. Various factors influence EMS outcomes, among which the lesion type is a key determinant.

Ground‐ and Excited‐State Mixed Valency in a 4,4′‐Bipyridine‐Bridged Bimetallic Di‐Ruthenium Complex

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, EarlyView.
Photoinduced mixed‐valence interactions across a 4,4′‐bpy bridge were studied. MLCT excited states in the bimetallic complex are longer‐lived than in the monometallic reference, thanks to metal–metal electronic coupling and hole delocalization, but are still shorter than the nanosecond timescale relevant for diffusional reactivity.

Comparison of model identification techniques for MPC in all-air HVAC systems in an educational building [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2019
In school and office buildings the ventilation system has a large contribution to the total energy use. A control strategy that adjusts the operation to the actual demand can significantly reduce the energy use.

New insights into epileptic spasm generation and treatment from the TTX animal model

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract Currently, we have an incomplete understanding of the mechanisms underlying infantile epileptic spasms syndrome (IESS). However, over the past decade, significant efforts have been made to develop IESS animal models to provide much‐needed mechanistic information for therapy development.

Arsenite Oxidation by a Newly Isolated Betaproteobacterium Possessing arx Genes and Diversity of the arx Gene Cluster in Bacterial Genomes

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2019
Microbes play essential roles in arsenic transformation in the environment. Microbial arsenite oxidation is catalyzed by either of two distantly related arsenite oxidases, referred to as AIO and ARX. The arx genes encoding ARX and its regulatory proteins
