Partial Arytenoidectomy in Horses
Veterinary Surgery, 1986Unilateral partial arytenoidectomy was performed in 22 horses. Six horses had arytenoid chondritis, 14 horses had idiopathic laryngeal hemiplegia (11 of which had been treated unsuccessfully by insertion of a laryngeal abductor muscle prosthesis), and two horses had laryngeal hemiplegia resulting from perivascular injection of an irritant drug.

Laser arytenoidectomy in the treatment of bilateral vocal cord paralysis
European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, 1999The introduction of the CO2 surgical laser into laryngeal microsurgery has made resection of the posterior vocal cord together with the arytenoid cartilage possible. Since November 1990, 30 arytenoidectomies, 17 partial cordectomies and 18 bilateral cordectomies as described by Kashima were performed by means of a CO(2) laser in patients with bilateral

[Supraglottic laryngectomy with arytenoidectomy].
Annales d'oto-laryngologie et de chirurgie cervico faciale : bulletin de la Societe d'oto-laryngologie des hopitaux de Paris, 2001Relearning to swallow is frequently difficult after supraglottic laryngectomy requiring arytenoid cartilage resection. We propose a surgical procedure in which a local flap is used to close the pharyngeal defect without approximating the laryngeal remnants and the base of tongue.

[Translaryngeal microsurgical arytenoidectomy].
Annales d'oto-laryngologie et de chirurgie cervico faciale : bulletin de la Societe d'oto-laryngologie des hopitaux de Paris, 1976The authors describe a microsurgical procedure for translaryngeal arytenoidectomy in bilateral vocal cord paralysis and relate their clinical experience. They consider this approach as very valuable in as much as a rather minimal surgical procedure will create a good airway while conserving a satisfactory vocal function.

Severe functional laryngeal stenoses treated by endoscopic arytenoidectomy
European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, 1996During the 15-year period from 1978 to 1993 we treated 17 cannulated patients suffering from dyspnea caused by bilateral recurrent laryngeal nerve palsies. The causes of palsy were struma surgery (13 cases), prolonged intubation (3 cases) and unknown (1 case). All cases were operated on by the classical endolaryngeal arytenoidectomy technique developed

Anatomical bases of glottic widening surgery related to arytenoidectomy
Clinical Anatomy, 1999Derived from arytenoidectomy, different surgical techniques have been developed for widening the glottis in cases of bilateral vocal cord paralysis. Their anatomical bases were reinvestigated in plastinated serial sections of 25 adult human larynges. At the anterolateral surface of the arytenoid cartilage, blood vessels crossing the crista arcuata may ...
