On Ascaris vitulorum Goeze [PDF]

open access: yesParasitology, 1922
Until the appearance of Neumann's paper “ Sur l'Ascaride des Bêtes Bovines ” (1883), Ascaris vitulorum was not generally accepted as a valid species, the form from cattle being referred by different authorities either to Ascaris lumbricoides or A. megalocephala.

Evaluation of copromicroscopy, multiplex-qPCR and antibody serology for monitoring of human ascariasis in endemic settings.

open access: yesPLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases
BackgroundThe standard diagnosis of Ascaris lumbricoides and other soil-transmitted helminth (STH) infections relies on the detection of worm eggs by copromicroscopy.

ASCARIS: Positional feature annotation and protein structure-based representation of single amino acid variations

open access: yesComputational and Structural Biotechnology Journal, 2023
Background: Genomic variations may cause deleterious effects on protein functionality and perturb biological processes. Elucidating the effects of variations is critical for developing novel treatment strategies for diseases of genetic origin ...

Transcriptomic analysis of Ascaris suum larvae during their hepatopulmonary migration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Common roundworms are important intestinal nematodes of man (Ascaris lumbricoides) and pig (Ascaris suum). During the first stages of the infection, the larvae of these parasites undergo a hepatopulmonary migration.

Effect of rooting area and drinker in the outdoor run on behaviour and Ascaris infection of organic pigs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Hygiene is often a problem on the outdoor runs of growing organic pigs. Manure and urine are mainly excreted outside, but spread all over the run. Reduc-ing the dirty surface may improve well being, reduce ammonia emission, improve hygiene and reduce ...

RARE CASE OF ASCARIASIS DETECTED BY COLONOSCOPY ON THE BACKGROUND OF ELEVATED LEVELS OF FECAL CALPROTECTIN

open access: yesProblems of Infectious and Parasitic Diseases

Virtual homological torsion in graphs of free groups with cyclic edge groups [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Let $G$ be a hyperbolic group that splits as a graph of free groups with cyclic edge groups. We prove that, unless $G$ is isomorphic to a free product of free and surface groups, every finite abelian group $M$ appears as a direct summand in the abelianization of some finite-index subgroup $G'\le G$.

Molecular paleoparasitological diagnosis of Ascaris sp. from coprolites: new scenery of ascariasis in pre-Colombian South America times

open access: yesMemorias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 2008
Paleoparasitological studies using microscopy showed that Ascarisand Trichuris trichiura are the human intestinal parasites most found in archaeological sites. However, in pre-Columbian South American archaeological sites, Ascaris is rare.
