Co‐infection of Hepatitis A and E With Atypical Manifestation: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Hepatitis A virus (HAV) and hepatitis E virus (HEV) are common causes of acute viral hepatitis in developing countries where inadequate sanitation and contaminated water supplies facilitate fecal–oral transmission. Although both infections are usually self‐limiting, co‐infection may result in atypical presentations and pose diagnostic ...

Hidden Behind Ascites: An Atypical Pediatric Presentation of T‐Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia—A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT This case describes a child with T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) presenting atypically with ascites and bilateral pedal edema, initially suggesting autoimmune hepatitis. The diagnosis was established only after flow cytometry of ascitic fluid.

Strawberry Tongue due to Streptococcal Toxic Shock Syndrome

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Strawberry tongue is associated with streptococcal toxic shock syndrome (TSS). Streptococcal TSS should be considered as one of the differential diagnoses for patients with shock and strawberry tongue. Our case is the first to report desquamation of strawberry tongue in patients with TSS.

Gemcitabine activates the Hippo signaling pathway and suppresses tumor growth by stabilizing large tumor suppressor kinase 2 through the hypoxia‐inducible factor 1‐alpha/ubiquitin protein ligase E3 component N‐recognin 5 axis

open access: yesJournal of Cell Communication and Signaling, Volume 20, Issue 2, June 2026.
Abstract To investigate the molecular mechanism by which gemcitabine (GEM) inhibits ovarian cancer (OC) progression, focusing on the hypoxia‐inducible factor 1‐alpha (HIF1A)/UBR5/LATS2 axis and Hippo pathway. Bioinformatics analysis of gene expression omnibus datasets identified HIF1A‐associated modules.

Lactate metabolism and lactylation in female reproductive diseases: From metabolic rewiring to biomarkers and translational therapeutics

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, Volume 16, Issue 6, June 2026.
1. Lactate‐derived histone lactylation links glycolytic reprogramming to epigenetic regulation in female reproductive diseases. 2. In endometriosis, lactylation may promote inflammatory remodelling, immune dysregulation and ferroptosis resistance. 3. In PCOS, lactylation connects metabolic disturbance to granulosa‐cell dysfunction and hyperandrogenism.

Vacuolization as a Novel Approach to Cancer Therapy

open access: yesJournal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology, Volume 40, Issue 6, June 2026.
This review discusses the novel strategy of inducing vacuole formation in cancer cells using small molecules, that induce nonapoptotic cell death mechanisms, such as paraptosis, oncosis, autophagy, and methuosis, and its potential in overcoming resistance to apoptosis‐based cancer therapies.

Immune Evasion in Ovarian Cancer Peritoneal Metastasis: Mechanisms and Biomarker‐Guided Therapeutic Matching

open access: yesJournal of Cellular Physiology, Volume 241, Issue 6, June 2026.
This graphical abstract summarizes the major immune‐evasion mechanisms that limit immunotherapy efficacy in ovarian cancer peritoneal metastasis. Peritoneal dissemination is shaped by impaired antigen visibility, coordinated immune‐evasion modules within ascites and multicellular spheroids, checkpoint‐driven T‐cell exhaustion, suppressive tumor ...

Hepatic Monoclonal Light‐ and Heavy‐Chain Deposition Disease Presenting as Noncirrhotic Portal Hypertension With Ascites

open access: yesLiver International Communications, Volume 7, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Monoclonal immunoglobulin deposition disease (MIDD) is a plasma cell disorder where immunoglobulin light‐ and/or heavy‐chains accumulate in various organs. Hepatic involvement can be challenging to diagnose, as manifestations are protean and Congo red staining is negative.
