Abstract Background Angiopoietin‐like protein 3 (ANGPTL3) is a key circulating regulator of triglyceride metabolism and a promising pharmacological target. The physiological consequences of profound ANGPTL3 deficiency can be explored in individuals with inherited loss‐of‐function (LOF) variants, who show reduced lifetime risk of atherosclerotic ...

ABSTRACT Objectives Familial hypercholesterolaemia (FH) affects 1 in 311 people. Left untreated, it elevates LDL‐cholesterol from early life and drives premature atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. Despite paediatric guidelines for early lipid‐lowering, detection and management in Australia remain suboptimal.

ASCVD Risk Refinement with NT-proBNP for Statin Allocation among Low- and Intermediate-Risk Individuals [PDF]
Background: Statin trials targeting low- to intermediate-risk individuals, namely MEGA, JUPITER, and HOPE-3, have demonstrated benefit of statin use for primary prevention of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD), but are poorly reflected in ...

Modified Sleep Apnea Severity Index and Cardiovascular Risk in CPAP‐Intolerant OSA Patients
The modified sleep apnea severity index (mSASI) combines patient anatomy, weight, sleep study metrics, and symptoms into a composite OSA index ranging from 1 (least severe) to 3 (most severe). Our study found that mSASI correlated better with baseline cardiovascular risk measured by the 5‐year Framingham Risk Score compared to the AHI.
