Quantitative assessment of masticatory muscles based on skull muscle attachment areas in Carnivora
Abstract Masticatory muscles are composed of the temporalis, masseter, and pterygoid muscles in mammals. Each muscle has a different origin on the skull and insertion on the mandible; thus, all masticatory muscles contract in different directions. Collecting in vivo data and directly measuring the masticatory muscles anatomically in various Carnivora ...

m-SKP yield does not correlate with α-SMA expression in red panda, Asiatic lion or giant panda buccal mucosa fibroblasts. [PDF]
Monolayer cultures of red panda (a) and Asiatic lion (b) dermal fibroblasts strongly expressed α-SMA, compared to monolayer cultures of giant panda buccal mucosa fibroblasts (c) where α-SMA expression was greatly reduced.

Review of the fauna associated with wild and farmed mussels and oysters in the Mediterranean
ABSTRACT Mussels and oysters are important ecosystem engineers which modify the physical and chemical characteristics of the environment and create habitats that support highly diverse associated communities. In the Mediterranean Sea, the native Mediterranean mussel Mytilus galloprovincialis and the European flat oyster Ostrea edulis, together the ...

Giant panda fibroblasts, but not red panda or Asiatic lion fibroblasts, are able to generate m-SKPs after passage and cryopreservation. [PDF]
Fibroblast cultures from red panda (a) and Asiatic lion (b) were unable to generate m-SKPs. Female giant panda fibroblasts cultures were able to generate m-SKPs (c).
