Remote Roca: Integrating Data From Archaeological Survey, Remote Sensing and Geophysics in the Hinterland at the Long‐Lasting Mediterranean Site of Rocavecchia (Apulia, Italy)

open access: yesArchaeological Prospection, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study presents a multi‐method non‐invasive investigation of an approximately 4‐ha area associated with the long‐occupied coastal settlement of Rocavecchia (Apulia, southern Italy), situated between the prehistoric fortified peninsula and the Hellenistic‐Messapian walls.

Black Carbon Contribution to the Aerosol Phase and its Scavenged Fraction in Mixed Phase Clouds at the High Alpine Site Jungfraujoch (3580m asl) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The mass fraction of black carbon (BC) in the atmospheric aerosol and its mixing state are important for the direct aerosol climate effect. These properties also determine if BC is incorporated into cloud hydrometeors (i.e. droplets and ice crystals) and

Hemodynamic state of periictal hyperperfusion revealed by arterial spin-labeling perfusion MR images with dual postlabeling delay

open access: yeseNeurologicalSci, 2018
Background: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), including perfusion MRI with arterial spin labeling (ASL) and diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI), are applied in the periictal detection of circulatory and metabolic consequences associated with epilepsy ...

Poseidon's Sanctuary at Samikon—The Discovery of an Ancient Temple Through an Integrated Geophysical and Geoarchaeological Survey Approach for Lagoonal and Swampy Environments

open access: yesArchaeological Prospection, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Below the classical fortress of Samikon at the coast of the western Peloponnese, ancient writer Strabo mentioned a sanctuary of Poseidon which served as the centre of the religious association of the Triphylian cities. In this paper, we describe the discovery and investigation of a building structure by means of geophysical and ...

Identifying psychosis spectrum youth using support vector machines and cerebral blood perfusion as measured by arterial spin labeled fMRI

open access: yesNeuroImage: Clinical, 2020
Altered cerebral blood flow (CBF), as measured by arterial spin labelling (ASL), has been observed in several psychiatric conditions, but is a generally underutilized MRI technique, especially in the study of psychosis spectrum (PS) symptoms. We aimed to

Medical students' perspectives on body donation to science within the Italian context

open access: yesAnatomical Sciences Education, EarlyView.
Abstract Body donation is essential for medical education and research, supporting anatomical training and clinical competence. In Italy, national data on awareness of the legislation regulating body donation and factors shaping donation‐related decisions among healthcare trainees remain limited. This study investigated knowledge of the legal framework,

Legibility of Videos with ASL signers

open access: yesCoRR, 2021
The viewing size of a signer correlates with legibility, i.e., the ease with which a viewer can recognize individual signs. The WCAG 2.0 guidelines (G54) mention in the notes that there should be a mechanism to adjust the size to ensure the signer is discernible but does not state minimum discernibility guidelines.

Arterial Spin Labeling (ASL) fMRI: Advantages, Theoretical Constrains and Experimental Challenges in Neurosciences

open access: yesInternational Journal of Biomedical Imaging, 2012
Cerebral blood flow (CBF) is a well-established correlate of brain function and therefore an essential parameter for studying the brain at both normal and diseased states.
