Biogeographical Distribution of River Microbial Communities in Atlantic Catchments. [PDF]

open access: yesEnviron Microbiol Rep
We discovered different factors affecting river microbial communities (RMC) diversity and composition across Atlantic catchments in Europe. Prokaryote diversity was mainly influenced by topography and geology, while eukaryotic groups were driven by land use and cover.

Vaccine hesitancy or hesitancies? A latent class analysis of pediatric patients' parents. [PDF]

open access: yesClin Transl Sci
Abstract Vaccine hesitancy is an attitude of indecision toward vaccination that is related to but not determinative of vaccination behaviors. Although theories of vaccine hesitancy emphasize it is often vaccine‐specific, we do not know the extent to which this is true across sociodemographic groups.

Context, culture, and cordons: The feasibility of post‐earthquake cordons learned through a case study in Kathmandu Valley, Nepal

open access: yesEarthquake Spectra, Volume 39, Issue 4, Page 2152-2172, November 2023., 2023
Increasingly, post‐earthquake cordons (PECs) have been used to support response and recovery activities around the world. However, thus far, the empirical analysis of cordons has not considered the overarching feasibility of their use. This research aims to fill this gap through a case study of Kathmandu Valley following the 2015 Gorkha earthquake in ...

Visual Heuristics for Verb Production: Testing a Deep‐Learning Model With Experiments in Japanese

open access: yesCognitive Science, Volume 47, Issue 8, August 2023., 2023
Abstract Tense/aspect morphology on verbs is often thought to depend on event features like telicity, but it is not known how speakers identify these features in visual scenes. To examine this question, we asked Japanese speakers to describe computer‐generated animations of simple actions with variation in visual features related to telicity ...
