Residual flexibility in the topologically constrained multivalent complex between the GKAP scaffold and LC8 hub proteins

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
The scaffold protein GKAP and the hub protein LC8 form a well‐defined hexameric complex, with the stoichiometry of 2 GKAP : 2 LC8 dimers. NMR and molecular dynamics calculations confirm that the LC8‐binding segment of GKAP is intrinsically disordered even in the complex form.

Structural insights for enhanced ROS detoxification of eKatE, a recently identified catalase in atypical E. coli

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
We revealed the crystal structure of eKatE from atypical E. coli. eKatE exhibits a hydrogen‐peroxide‐sensitive major channel, a stabilized dimeric interface, an unusual covalent bond between C392 and Y415, and other distinctive features. These structural features contribute to its enhanced catalase activity compared to KatE in typical E.

CLEC18A interacts with sulfated glycosaminoglycans and controls clear cell renal cell carcinoma progression

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
CLEC18A is a previously poorly characterized C‐type lectin. We mapped the expression of CLEC18A to the proximal tubule of the kidney and found CLEC18A to interact with sulfated glycosaminoglycans on proteoglycans. Furthermore, we found that CLEC18A plays an important role in hindering the progression of clear cell renal cell carcinomas in humans and in
