Loss of appealing quality characteristics and rapid desiccation within a short period after detaching from mother plants is one of the major problems in cut foliages. Effect of pulsing with benzyl adenine (BA), 8-Hydroxy Quinoline citrate (8-HQC) and sucrose on vase life of cut leaves of Asparagus setaceus syn. Plumosus was investigated.

The model of rough wetting for hydrophobic steel meshes that mimic Asparagus setaceus leaf
Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2011A comprehensive analytical model is proposed to provide a relationship between the macroscopic roughness and contact angle, which is used to develop macroscopic rough surface and to create biomimetic superhydrophobic surfaces. Using chemical surface modification of steel wires, an artificial hydrophobic surface was prepared.

AbstractAsparagus setaceus, also known as Asparagus plumosus, is a popular cut filler due to its delicate, feathery foliage and versatility in floral compositions. However, its tender nature makes it prone to mechanical damage, pests, and diseases, which affect its post-harvest quality and vase life.
