Dimensional Error of Assembled Blocks

Journal of Ship Production, 2001
This paper presents the primary factors of the dimensional error for hull blocks and offers countermeasures. It also introduces a series of recent analytical approaches as well as accuracy management using a conventional quality control method, in order to substantially increase ship productivity.

Effects of Assembly and Manufacturing Errors on Transmission Error of Planetary Gears

6th International Power Transmission and Gearing Conference: Advancing Power Transmission Into the 21st Century, 1992
Abstract Transforming 2K-H type planetary gears with three planet gears into an equivalent model with many degrees of freedom, in a plane perpendicular to the input and output shafts, the loci of the displacement of a floating sun gear were analyzed theoretically by using the equivalent model. The theoretical locus of the displacement of

Multisensory Assembly and Error Recovery

1990
Sensory feedback provides a powerful means of allowing a robotic workcell to cope with uncertainties. These uncertainties arise from components, actuators, fixtures and indeed the sensors themselves. Given an object level description of, say, an assembly task, the workcell designer must decide what hardware is to be used, where it is to be placed and ...

Assembly process optimization for reducing the dimensional error of antenna assembly with abundant rivets

Journal of Intelligent Manufacturing, 2015
This paper proposes a process optimization method to improve the dimensional precision of riveted assemblies. The method representation and investigation use an assembly with 1093 rivets yielded from the double curved reflector. Firstly the static and dynamic finite element (FE) models respectively represent the global large-scale assembly and the ...

Error Detection/Correction in DNA Algorithmic Self-Assembly

2008 Design, Automation and Test in Europe, 2008
A novel error detection/correction technique for algorithmic self-assembly is presented in this paper. Through the use of a tile set that allows errors to be isolated and propagated to the boundary edge of 2D (two-dimensional) assemblies, the proposed technique permits growth errors to be detected and corrected.

Calculation and Analysis of the Turbocharger Assembly Errors

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2015
Turbocharger assembly process has two assembly dimension chain, the assembly dimension chain between the shell, and the assembly dimension chain of the parts of the impeller shaft. Between them are interrelated, eventually formed with the gap between the impeller and the casing.

Error Tolerance of DNA Self-Healing Assemblies by Puncturing

22nd IEEE International Symposium on Defect and Fault-Tolerance in VLSI Systems (DFT 2007), 2007
Self-assembly is affected by high error rates due to incorrect tiles in nano-technology manufacturing. Tile sets that can heal (fully or partially) an erroneous assembly have been proposed. Self-healing requires growth to be restarted such that erroneous tiles can be removed and the correct tiles to bind to the aggregate. Punctures can be used for this

Allocation of Errors in Hierarchical Calibration or Assembly

Journal of Quality Technology, 1974
The propagation of errors in hierarchical systems of calibration or assembly is well known. It is often required to determine the allowable error at each level of assembly or calibration, if the limit on the final error (or tolerance) is specified. A dy..

An Error Diagnosis Expert System for Flexible Assembly Systems

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1992
Abstract A research flexible assembly work cell was built in order to develop an error detection and recovery strategy for flexible assembly systems (FAS). The work cell is equipped with a multi-sensory system to facilitate monitoring and error detection.
