Asset sales by manufacturing firms in India

open access: yes
In this paper we study 325 large scale asset sale transactions by Indian manufacturing firms in the period 1996 to 2008. We find that the likelihood of asset sales increases with the firm’s low capacity of debt utilisation and decreases with size ...

Setting Targets In An Asset Management Performance Measurement Framework

open access: yes, 2016
All asset-intensive organisations have some sort of asset performance targets in place. How legitimate are these targets? Are they achievable given the resources and span of the control of the manager responsible? Are they fair?

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Financial Performance with Asset Quality as Intervening Variable: Liquidity, Solvency and Operational Efficiency

open access: yesJurnal Ilmiah Bisnis dan Ekonomi Asia
Some banks in Indonesia that experience high solvency reflect an expansion strategy and aggressive lending. However, it also shows that there is a great risk in this large lending.

Erythropoietin modulates hepatic inflammation, glucose homeostasis, and soluble epoxide hydrolase and epoxides in high‐fat diet‐induced obese mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Erythropoietin administration suppresses hepatic soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) expression, leading to increased CYP‐derived epoxides. This is associated with a shift in hepatic macrophage polarization characterized by reduced M1 markers and increased M2 markers, along with reduced hepatic inflammation, suppressed hepatic lipogenesis, and attenuated ...

Asset Price Shocks, Financial Constraints, and Investment: Evidence from Japan [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper examines investment spending of Japanese firms around the "asset price bubble" in the late-1980s and makes three contributions to our understanding of how stock valuations affect investment.

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

Information quality assessment for asset management systems

open access: yes, 2014
Information quality is critical for any business. It is particularly important for mission critical information systems that manage the lifecycle of an engineering asset. Quality of information or lack thereof in these systems can be traced to technical,
