Russian wheat aphid: a model for genomic plasticity and a challenge to breeders

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
Invasive foundress finds suitable habitat and reproduces through pathogenesis. Wingless females produce life offspring quickly, which leads to high population densities. High population densities result in competition, which may induce epigenetic changes and wing development for dispersal.

Spatial Patterns of Avian Stable Isotopes Reveal Ecological Impacts of Climate and Land‐Use Change

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
Increased feather δ15N values with pasture coverage reveal an elevated baseline δ15N in grazing landscapes, while broader isotopic niches in farmland habitats reflect agricultural expansion's significant influence on resource use patterns of the avian community.

Seasonal Dynamics of Community and Function of Gut Microbiome in Taihangshan Macaque (Macaca mulatta tcheliensis): Inferred From Metagenomic Data

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
A total of 435 non‐redundant metagenome‐assembled genomes (MAGs) were obtained from fecal samples of Taihangshan macaque across all four seasons. The alpha diversity of the gut microbiome in spring and winter was significantly higher than in summer and autumn. Furthermore, marked differences were detected in functional pathways and carbohydrate enzymes
