Fluidization of Ultrafine Particles in a Bubbling Fluidized Bed with Sound Assistance

Chemical Engineering & Technology, 2005
The fluidization behaviors of various nanometer and micron particles, including SiO 2 , TiO 2 , and cornstarch particles with primary particle sizes of 5 nm-10.69 μm, were investigated in a fluidized bed with inside diameter 56 mm under different sound pressure levels and sound frequencies. It has been demonstrated that the relatively uniform ultrafine

Fluidization of fine powder assisted by vertical vibration in fluidized bed reactor

Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering, 2019
This study examined the fluidization phenomenon using vertical vibration for fine powder in a mechanical vertical vibration for fluidized bed reactor. The fine powder used belongs to the Geldart group C with a mean powder size of 2.25 µm. It was verified that channeling and agglomeration phenomena appeared with a fluidization method without vibration ...

Investigation on Assisted Fluidization of a Cohesive Powder

Chemical Engineering Research and Design, 2005
Cohesive systems have been largely investigated; however, the capability to predict their characteristics is still limited. A cohesive powder (air pollution control residue, or fly ash) from waste incineration could potentially be treated in a fluid bed unit.

Effect of fluidization conditions on the membrane permeation rate in a membrane assisted fluidized bed

Chemical Engineering Journal, 2003
The effects of fluidization conditions on the membrane permeation rate in a membrane assisted fluidized bed (MAFB) employing micro-porous membranes have been studied experimentally in a square fluidized bed, equipped with vertical ceramic membranes positioned in a staggered arrangement.

Heat Transfer and Fluidization Characteristics of Lignite in a Pulsation-Assisted Fluidized Bed

Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 2017
To address the problem of low drying efficiency increasing lignite dryer size, a pulsation-assisted fluidized bed with horizontal tube bundles was built for investigating the heat transfer in lignite particles with the goal of enhancing the lignite drying rate by introducing a pulsed flow to increase the heat transfer rate.

Experimental microwave-assisted air gasification of biomass in fluidized bed reactor

Bioresource Technology, 2022
Microwave-assisted heating is an effective heating method for thermochemical conversion of biomass. In this study, experimental syngas production from microwave-assisted air gasification of biomass in a fluidized bed reactor at different gasification temperatures, equivalence ratios and silicon carbide loads, was studied and reported.

Improved Drying in a Pulsation-Assisted Fluidized Bed

Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 2008
Gas flow pulsation was employed to improve the drying of porous pharmaceutical granules in a cylindrical fluidized bed. In our approach, a fraction of the total flow was oscillating intermittently and periodically, typically at 3 Hz during 2 min and remaining constant during the other 2 min of each 4 min cycle. It was found that such pulsation-assisted

Shear-assisted fluidized bed powder-coating

Powder Technology, 2012
Abstract This study addresses a novel concept of dense-fluidized bed coating of objects where the effectiveness of coating is promoted by the intentional and controlled establishment of shear flow around the object. The fluidized powder is sheared by the controlled oscillatory motion of the object with respect to the fluidized bed.

Bubbling characteristics of sound-assisted fluidized beds

Powder Technology, 2001
Abstract Low frequency sound has been used to promote fluidization of fine cohesive powders in a 0.15-m I.D. column. The bed was fluidized with air at conditions both near and above minimum bubbling. Experiments were performed with powders of density ranging from 1.1 g/cm3 to 3.95 g/cm3 and particle size ranging from 11 to 80 μm.
