Internetworking Assortativity in Facebook
2013 International Conference on Cloud and Green Computing, 2013The role of assortativity in real-world and on-line social networks has been largely investigated in the literature, in which several forms of assortativity have been analyzed. However, all these forms are not able to capture some pieces of knowledge that are strategic when moving from a single-social-network to a multiple-social-network perspective ...

Assortment Optimization: An Annotated Reading Assortment
ACM SIGecom ExchangesWhich varieties or brands of a product should a retailer stock on its shelf? Carrying a large variety caters to more customers' needs, but could cannibalize the sales of high-end brands and also cause an inventory nightmare. Assortment optimization aims to formalize these tradeoffs, with the basic problem being as follows.

The Robustness of Assortativity
2013Complex networks are ubiquitous in real word and represent a key model for both human made and natural systems. An important characteristics that distinguishes technological networks from biological networks is the assortativity, i.e. the correlation among the degrees of connected nodes.

Chromosome assortment in Saccharum
Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 1994Recent work has revealed random chromosome pairing and assortment in Saccharum spontaneum L., the most widely distributed, and morphologically and cytologically variable of the species of Saccharum. This conclusion was based on the analysis of a segregating population from across between S.

The Case for Kendall’s Assortativity
2019Since the seminal work of Litvak and van der Hofstad [12], it has been known that Newman’s assortativity [14, 15], being based on Pearson’s correlation, is subject to a pernicious size effect which makes large networks with heavy-tailed degree distributions always unassortative.

Influences on assortative mating
Anthropologischer Anzeiger, 1987Age plays a considerable role in assortative mating. As regards this criterion we can distinguish a "rural, more traditional model" with high values of the coefficients of correlation, and an "urban model" with significantly lower values. Concerning eye and hair colour we find both these models as well as transitional forms.

The assortment problem: A survey
European Journal of Operational Research, 2008The assortment or catalog problem involves determining which of the possible set of sizes or qualities of some product should be stocked when it is not possible or desirable to stock all of them and substitution in one direction (larger for smaller or higher-quality for lower-quality) is possible at some cost. We review the work published on this topic

Assortative matching and gender [PDF]
Exploiting the richness of the Danish register data on individuals and companies, we are able to provide an overall assessment of the assortative matching patterns arising in the period 1996-2005 controlling for firms and individual characteristics. We find strong differences between men and women in assortativity.

Annals of Human Genetics, 1976
It is shown that a generalization of the Hardy-Weinberg law of the proportions of genotypes of the kind given by Wright (1922) is maintained in equilibrium by a pattern of assortative mating suggested by Fisher (1918) and elaborated by Malécot (1939, 1948).
