Attitude dynamics of satellites orbiting an asteroid
The Journal of the Astronautical Sciences, 2006Attitude motion of satellites orbiting an asteroid is examined. The highly irregular shape of the asteroids along with their rotational states can lead to very interesting attitude dynamics. As a start, the case of uniform rotation of the asteroid is examined and attention is focused on planar attitude motion (pitch).

Asteroid satellite ephemeride service. Mutual occultations and eclipses
A tool has been developed for computing the ephemerides of asteroid satellites, which are needed to plan and verify new observations, as well as for space missions.

Asteroid Hazard Prediction Using Machine Learning: A Comparative Analysis of Different Algorithms
2023 3rd International Conference on Advancement in Electronics & Communication Engineering (AECE), 2023The prediction of asteroid risk is a crucial topic in the realm of space technology. The utilization of machine learning techniques has enabled the identification of asteroids in photographic and video data obtained from telescopes and satellites ...

More than 6000 asteroids in the Solar System have now been discovered and enumerated, and about 500 of them have been investigated in detail by different methods. This rewiew gives observational evidence which indicates that no fewer than 10% of asteroids may be composed of two or more bodies.

The absence of satellites of asteroids
Icarus, 1987Abstract A CCD-imaging survey was made for satellites of minor planets at distances of about 0.1 to 7 arcmin from 1 Ceres, 2 Pallas, 4 Vesta, 6 Hebe, 7 Iris, 8 Flora, 15 Eunomia, 29 Amphitrite, 41 Daphne, and 44 Nysa, with cursory inspection of 192 Nausikaa. Satellites larger than 3 km were not found in this work, nor in previous photographic surveys.

Probability for cosmic masses of the main asteroid belt to approach the Earth
Acta Astronautica, 2021The problem of space flights safety arose with the beginning of the first launches of artificial Earth satellites. With expansion of the boundaries of space flights, the area of outer space that must be controlled to ensure flight safety is significantly

Satellites of two large asteroids
Astronomical & Astrophysical Transactions, 1998Abstract Various observational data obtained over a period of about 100 years have led to the assumption that some asteroids have satellites. A review of publications has allowed us to compose a list of 50 asteroids that are supposed to be binary. Asteroid 243 Ida with satellite Dactil discovered by space probe Galileo became the 51st.
