Temporary Capture of Asteroids by an Eccentric Planet [PDF]
We have investigated the probability of temporary capture of asteroids in eccentric orbits by a planet in a circular or eccentric orbit through analytical and numerical calculations.

An integrated DEM code for tracing the entire regolith mass movement on asteroids
This paper presents a general strategy for tracking the scale-span movement process of asteroid regolith materials. It achieves the tracking of the mass movement on the asteroid at a realistic scale, under conditions of high-resolution asteroid surface

Uninterrupted optical light curves of main-belt asteroids from the K2 mission [PDF]
Context. Because the second reaction wheel failed, a new mission was conceived for the otherwise healthy Kepler space telescope. In the course of the K2 mission, the telescope is staring at the plane of the Ecliptic.

The direction of core soldification in asteroids: implications for dynamo generation.
Paleomagnetic studies of meteorites over the past two decades have revealed that the cores of multiple meteorite parent bodies, including those of certain chondritic groups, generated dynamo fields as they crystallised. However, uncertainties in the direction and mode of core solidification in asteroid-sized bodies have meant using the timings and ...

Hydrodynamics of tsunamis generated by asteroid impact in the Black Sea
Abstract Two-dimensional and one-dimensional models are used to evaluate the seashore effects of the tsunami generated by an asteroid hitting the deep water in the Eastern region of the Black Sea. The shallow water theory has been used to describe tsunami propagation.

Predicting Performance of Hall Effect Ion Source Using Machine Learning
This study introduces HallNN, a machine learning tool for predicting Hall effect ion source performance using a neural network ensemble trained on data generated from numerical simulations. HallNN provides faster and more accurate predictions than numerical methods and traditional scaling laws, making it valuable for designing and optimizing Hall ...

A case of atypical nocardia asteroides sclerouveitis resistant to fourth-generation fluoroquinolones [PDF]
ABSTRACT We describe an unusual case of Nocardia spp scleritis in a health girl resistant to topical fourth-generation fluoroquinolones. Clinically, there was only partial response of the scleritis to initial therapy. Treatment was changed to meropenem intravenously and topical amikacin.

High atmospheric pressure (120 kPa) in deep underground counteracts humidity‐induced physiological stress in plants, stabilizing water balance and enhancing antioxidative defenses. This synergy boosts biomass despite elevated humidity, demonstrating sustainable deep underground agriculture potential under climate uncertainty.

Embryonic development of the Mediterranean starfish Hacelia attenuata
Abstract Background Starfish play essential ecological roles as predators and ecosystem regulators; however, detailed developmental descriptions exist for only a handful of species, none of which are from the Mediterranean Sea. Results In this study, we provide the first full account of the development of the Mediterranean starfish Hacelia attenuata ...
