Foliage visible injury in the tropical tree species, Astronium graveolens is strictly related to phytotoxic ozone dose (PODy)

Environmental Science and Pollution Research, 2021
The present study evaluates the development of visible injury related to phytotoxic ozone dose (PODy) in native tropical species Astronium graveolens Jacq. (Anacardiaceae) and validates the symptoms using structural markers attributed to oxidative burst and hypersensitive responses. Increasing POD0 was associated with increasing O3 visible injury using

Response of the Tropical Tree Species Astronium graveolens to Meteorological Conditions and Ground-Level Ozone in São Paulo, Brazil

Water, Air, & Soil Pollution, 2021
Astronium graveolens is a native tree species from Atlantic Forest considered sensitive to O3. This study aimed to determine which environmental factors, including air quality and meteorological conditions, have the most significant influence on gas exchange and the appearance of visible foliar symptoms in this species. Saplings were potted and exposed

Composition of the Essential Oil from Leaves ofAstronium graveolensJacq Grown in Colombia

Journal of Essential Oil Research, 2010
The composition of the essential oil from leaves of Astronium graveolens Jacq. was analyzed by GC and combined GC/MS. Eighty constituents were identified which constitute 98% of the total composition. Major compounds in the leaf oil were (E)-β-ocimene (40.1%) and myrcene (17.0%).

Ozone stomatal flux and O3 concentration-based metrics for Astronium graveolens Jacq., a Brazilian native forest tree species

Environmental Pollution, 2016
The current levels of surface ozone (O3) are high enough to negatively affect trees in large regions of São Paulo State, southeastern Brazil, where standards for the protection of vegetation against the adverse effects of O3 do not exist. We evaluated three O3 metrics - phytotoxic ozone dose (POD), accumulated ozone exposure over the threshold of 40 ...

Importance of the lilac-crowned parrot in pre-dispersal seed predation ofAstronium graveolensin a Mexican tropical dry forest

Journal of Tropical Ecology, 2010
Abstract:Parrots represent a large biomass of canopy granivores in tropical forests, and may be effective pre-dispersal seed predators. We evaluated the importance of the lilac-crowned parrot (Amazona finschi) as a pre-dispersal seed predator ofAstronium graveolens(Anacardiaceae) in tropical dry forest.
