Convolutional Neural Networks Approach for Solar Reconstruction in SCAO Configurations
Correcting atmospheric turbulence effects in light with Adaptive Optics is necessary, since it produces aberrations in the wavefront of astronomical objects observed with telescopes from Earth.

We show a giant, bias‐field free, deterministic, spin‐orbit‐torque switching of perpendicular hard magnets with HC over 1.3 T. By combining the three‐fold 3m symmetry from topological insulator surface states with the rectangular mm2 symmetry from the 2 x 1 intercalation in Cr3Te4, the interface symmetry is significantly reduced into a unidirectional m

Emergent Freestanding Complex Oxide Membranes for Multifunctional Applications
This review surveys freestanding oxide membranes and covers fabrication and three pathways for studies and devices: strain‐free and strained membranes, and van der Waals‐integrated heterostructures. We show how coupled oxide responses map onto these routes and cross‐couple to expand behaviors.

A census of $\rho$ Oph candidate members from Gaia DR2
The Ophiuchus cloud complex is one of the best laboratories to study the earlier stages of the stellar and protoplanetary disc evolution. The wealth of accurate astrometric measurements contained in the Gaia Data Release 2 can be used to update the ...

Automatic Compressive Sensing of Shack–Hartmann Sensors Based on the Vision Transformer
Shack–Hartmann wavefront sensors (SHWFSs) are crucial for detecting distortions in adaptive optics systems, but the accuracy of wavefront reconstruction is often hampered by low guide star brightness or strong atmospheric turbulence.

Observational evidence for enhanced magnetic activity of superflare stars
Superflares are large explosive events on stellar surfaces, much larger than solar flares, but it remains unclear whether they share the same origin. Here, the authors analysed 48 superflare stars and determine the relation between their chromospheric ...

End-to-end simulations of photonic phase correctors for adaptive optics systems. [PDF]
Optical beams and starlight distorted by atmospheric turbulence can be corrected with adaptive optics systems to enable efficient coupling into single-mode fibers.

Atomically Resolved Acoustic Dynamics Coupled with Magnetic Order in a Van der Waals Antiferromagnet
Magnetically coupled acoustic phonon modes (f1, f2, f3) are captured by ultrafast X‐ray diffraction in a prototypical van der Waals antiferromagnet FePS3, including their atomic displacement vectors (u) and the acoustic propagation wave vectors (k). Notably, the atomic displacement vector and amplitude of these modes, represented by the direction and ...

Astronomical spectrograph calibration with broad-spectrum frequency combs
Broadband femtosecond-laser frequency combs are filtered to spectrographically resolvable frequency-mode spacing, and the limitations of using cavities for spectral filtering are considered. Data and theory are used to show implications to spectrographic
