Astronomical adaptive optics: a review

open access: yesPhotoniX
Since the concept of adaptive optics(AO) was proposed in 1953, AO has become an indispensable technology for large aperture ground-based optical telescopes aimed at high resolution observations.

Integrated optics for astronomical interferometry [PDF]

open access: bronzeAstronomy & Astrophysics, 2002
We report laboratory and on sky characterizations of planar integrated optics beam combiners in the K ([ 2.0 μ m; 2.4 μ m] ) and K' ([ 2.02 μ m; 2.30 μ m] ) bands. Because of the strong scientific interests of the K band, we have extended the integrated optics technologies available in the telecom range (i.e.

Optique adaptative et telescopes geants

open access: yesComptes Rendus. Mécanique, 2023
Adaptive optics (AO), now installed on all the astronomical ground-based telescopes, make it possible to overcome the angular resolution limitations imposed by atmospheric turbulence.

Nanoengineered astronomical optics [PDF]

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics, 2004
We describe a technology for the fabrication of inexpensive and versatile mirrors through the use of a new type of nanoengineered optical material composed by the spreading of a self-assembling reflective colloidal film spread at the surface of a liquid. These new reflecting liquids offer interesting possibilities for astronomical instrumentation.

Design and Thermal Stability Analysis of Swing Micro-Mirror Structure for Gravitational Wave Observatory in Space

open access: yesMachines, 2021
A kind of swing micro-mirror structure with high stability for gravitational wave observatory in space is proposed in this paper. As the key interface instrument in the gravitational wave observatory, the swing micro-mirror structure plays a very ...
