Atmospheric phase correction using CARMA-PACS: high angular resolution observations of the FU Orionis star PP 13S* [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We present 0".15 resolution observations of the 227 GHz continuum emission from the circumstellar disk around the FU Orionis star PP 13S*. The data were obtained with the Combined Array for Research in Millimeter-wave Astronomy (CARMA) Paired Antenna ...

Chirality and Organization of Adsorbates Modify Surface Phonon Dynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Chirality and molecular organization are shown to influence surface phonon dynamics in gold films. Time‐resolved Joule heating measurements reveal that ordered homochiral monolayers increase the Debye temperature and disordered layers reduce it, while ordered racemic controls have no effect.

The Early Data Release of the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
The Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) completed its 5 month Survey Validation in 2021 May. Spectra of stellar and extragalactic targets from Survey Validation constitute the first major data sample from the DESI survey. This paper describes the

Data Release 1 of the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
In 2021 May the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) collaboration began a 5 yr spectroscopic redshift survey to produce a detailed map of the evolving three-dimensional structure of the Universe between z = 0 and z  ≈ 4.

Evidence for Itinerant Ferromagnetic Flat Bands Producing Large Transverse Responses

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Itinerant ferromagnetic flat bands are demonstrated in GdCo5 with a high Curie temperature of 940K, a stacked honeycomb–kagome lattice, through angle‐resolved photoemission spectroscopy and magneto‐thermoelectric measurements. These topological flat bands generate large Berry curvaturte, producing gigantic anomalous Nernst effect with record‐high ...

Data reduction methods for single-mode optical interferometry - Application to the VLTI two-telescopes beam combiner VINCI [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The interferometric data processing methods that we describe in this paper use a number of innovative techniques. In particular, the implementation of the wavelet transform allows us to obtain a good immunity of the fringe processing to false detections ...

BASSET: Bandpass-adaptive Single-pulse Search Toolkit—Optimized Subband Pulse Search Strategies for Faint Narrowband Fast Radio Bursts

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series
The existing single-pulse search algorithms for fast radio bursts (FRBs) do not adequately consider the frequency bandpass pattern of the pulse, rendering them incomplete for the relatively narrow-spectrum detection of pulses.
