On the Fate of Little Red Dots

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We study the stability and possible fates of little red dots (LRDs) under the stellar-only interpretation of their observational features. This is performed by a combination of analyzing the relevant timescales in their stellar dynamics and also the ...

Vertical profiling of shock attenuation at the Rochechouart impact structure, France

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, EarlyView.
Abstract Rochechouart, south‐west France, is a complex impact structure. Here, we present the first report of shock barometry of quartz from what are likely parautochthonous basement units at depth, based on samples from the 2017 C.I.R.I.R drilling campaign. The crystallographic orientations of 725 sets of PDFs in 512 quartz grains in samples from four

Effects of Dissipation Physics on High-frequency Quasiperiodic Oscillations in Black Hole X-Ray Binaries

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We numerically investigate the effects of black hole spin and local dissipation profiles on high-frequency quasiperiodic oscillation (HFQPO) observed in black hole X-ray binaries (BHXBs).

Finding Local Parallel Electric Fields in Magnetotail Reconnection Using a Two‐Spacecraft Method

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 6, 28 March 2026.
Abstract We investigate the use of a novel two‐spacecraft Liouville‐mapping method using data from the Magnetospheric Multiscale mission to determine local magnetic‐field‐aligned (parallel) electric fields in the Earth's magnetotail. The method detects the presence of local acceleration potentials by mapping phase‐space density between electron ...

Hair of Astrophysical Black Holes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The "no hair" theorem is not applicable to black holes formed from collapse of a rotating neutron star. Rotating neutron stars can self-produce particles via vacuum breakdown forming a highly conducting plasma magnetosphere such that magnetic field lines are effectively "frozen-in" the star both before and during collapse.

Scaling of Latitude‐Dependent Heat Transport in Geostrophic Convection

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 6, 28 March 2026.
Abstract Latitudinal variations in heat transport shape the thermal and magnetic evolution of rapidly rotating planets, stars, and icy moons. Although global simulations have revealed strong equatorial–polar contrasts, a predictive scaling theory has been lacking.

New Estimates of the Spin and Accretion Rate of the Black Hole M87*

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
In this Letter, we use the imaging results of M87* from the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) to calculate the rotational velocity of the inner edge of the accretion disk and find a value of ∼0.14 c .

A study of black holes in F(R)-ModMax gravity: Gravitational lensing and constraints from EHT observations

open access: yesPhysics Letters B
The study of astrophysical phenomena like black hole shadows is an effective approach to properly understand the modified gravity and explore its validity.

Image features of spinning regular black holes based on a locality principle

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2021
To understand the true nature of black holes, fundamental theoretical developments should be linked all the way to observational features of black holes in their natural astrophysical environments. Here, we take several steps to establish such a link. We

Fully Kinetic Simulations of Ion‐Acoustic Waves in Asymmetric Reconnection With Cold Ions

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 5, 16 March 2026.
Abstract In collisionless plasma, ion‐acoustic wave (IAW) is an important candidate for enhancing resistivity and viscosity, yet their presence and role in magnetic reconnection remain poorly understood. Here, we employ 2.5‐D particle‐in‐cell simulations to investigate IAWs in asymmetric magnetopause reconnection involving a cold ion population ...
