Alfvén waves in space and astrophysical dusty plasmas [PDF]

open access: yesNonlinear Processes in Geophysics, 2014
In this paper, we present some results of previous works on Alfvén waves in a dusty plasma in different astrophysical and space regions by taking into account the effect of superthermal particles on the dispersive characteristics.

New Analytic Solutions for Galaxy Evolution: Gas, Stars, Metals, and Dust in Local ETGs and Their High-z Star-forming Progenitors [PDF]

open access: yesAstrophysical Journal, 2019
We present a set of new analytic solutions aimed at self-consistently describing the spatially averaged time evolution of the gas, stellar, metal, and dust content in an individual star-forming galaxy hosted within a dark halo of a given mass and ...

Dust Coagulation Reconciles Protoplanetary Disk Observations with the Vertical Shear Instability. I. Dust Coagulation and the VSI Dead Zone

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
Protoplanetary disks exhibit a vertical gradient in angular momentum, rendering them susceptible to the vertical shear instability (VSI). The most important condition for the onset of this mechanism is a short timescale of thermal relaxation (≲0.1 ...

Production, Transport, and Destruction of Dust in the Kuiper Belt: The Effects of Refractory and Volatile Grain Compositions

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
The Venetia Burney Student Dust Counter (SDC) on board the New Horizons spacecraft measures the spatial and size distributions of dust along its trajectory.

The Dust and Molecular Gas in the Brightest Cluster Galaxy in MACS 1931.8-2635 [PDF]

open access: yesAstrophysical Journal, 2019
We present new Atacama Large Millimeter Array observations of the molecular gas and far-infrared continuum around the brightest cluster galaxy (BCG) in the cool-core cluster MACS 1931.8-2635. Our observations reveal (1.9 ± 0.3) × 1010 M⊙ of molecular gas,

Charge State Influence on Stability and Isomerism in Dehydrogenated PAHs: Insights from Anthracene, Acridine, and Phenazine

open access: yesChemPhysChem, Volume 26, Issue 6, March 15, 2025.
The ionization of anthracene, acridine, and phenazine has been explored, along with the removal of one and two hydrogen atoms, to provide valuable information for astrochemists and to understand the behavior of the resulting structures and their electronic reorganization. Abstract In this study, we systematically explored the stability and isomerism of

Size Distribution of Small Grains in the Inner Zodiacal Cloud

open access: yesThe Planetary Science Journal
The Parker Solar Probe (PSP) spacecraft has transited the innermost regions of the zodiacal cloud and detects impacts to the spacecraft body via its electric field instrument.

Multiphase Gas Nature in the Sub-parsec Region of the Active Galactic Nuclei. I. Dynamical Structures of Dusty and Dust-free Outflow

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
We investigated dusty and dust-free gas dynamics for a radiation-driven sub-parsec-scale outflow in an active galactic nucleus (AGN) associated with a supermassive black hole 10 ^7 M _⊙ and bolometric luminosity 10 ^44 erg s ^−1 based on the two ...

Noble gases and nitrogen in material from asteroid Bennu

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, EarlyView.
Abstract We report the elemental and isotopic abundances of all stable noble gases (helium, neon, argon, krypton, and xenon) in eight particles from asteroid Bennu returned by NASA's OSIRIS‐REx mission. We also report nitrogen abundances and isotopic ratios that were analyzed alongside neon and argon in four additional Bennu particles.

Vertical profiling of shock attenuation at the Rochechouart impact structure, France

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, EarlyView.
Abstract Rochechouart, south‐west France, is a complex impact structure. Here, we present the first report of shock barometry of quartz from what are likely parautochthonous basement units at depth, based on samples from the 2017 C.I.R.I.R drilling campaign. The crystallographic orientations of 725 sets of PDFs in 512 quartz grains in samples from four
