Abstract Observations from the HIAPER Cloud Radar (HCR) are used to develop a methodology to calculate Doppler spectra from an airborne platform. The method removes spectral noise and corrects the spectra for broadening caused by aircraft motion. The spectra are filtered using an objectively optimized filtering technique.

Searches for IceCube neutrinos from blazar flares using correlations with gamma-ray lightcurves [PDF]
Blazars have long been considered as accelerator candidates for cosmic rays. In such a scenario, hadronic interactions in the jet would produce neutrinos and gamma rays.

Jets from compact objects [PDF]
Some topics in the theory of jets are reviewed. These include jet precession, unconfined jets, the origin of knots, the internal shock model as a unifying theme from protostellar jets to Gamma-ray bursts, relations between the Blandford-Znajek and MHD disk-wind models, and jet collimation in magnetic acceleration models.

Abstract Sediment transported to fjords is redistributed by turbidity currents and sometimes fails on steep sidewall slopes, forming marine geohazards that are known to impact infrastructure. Since marine geohazards are poorly understood in Arctic Fjords due to lack of data and monitoring, a comprehensive study of Southwind Fjord, Baffin Island, was ...

Let There Be Neutrons! Hadronic Photoproduction from a Large Flux of High-energy Photons
We propose that neutrons may be generated in high-energy, high-flux photon environments via photo-induced reactions on pre-existing baryons. These photohadronic interactions are expected to occur in astrophysical jets and surrounding material ...

Observation of energetic protons trapped in laboratory magnetic-tower jets
Preliminary results of the self-emission of charged particles from magnetically driven plasma jets has been investigated. The jets were launched and driven by a toroidal magnetic field generated by introducing a ∼ 1.4 MA, 250 ns electrical current pulse

Simple scaling laws for astrophysical jets [PDF]
The idea of a unified model for all astrophysical jets has been considered for quite some time. We present here a few scaling laws relevant to all type of astrophysical jets, analogous to those of \citet{sams96} which are widely used for astrophysical black holes.

Abstract The Australasian tektite strewn field, approximately 0.8 Ma in age, covers nearly 10% of the Earth's surface, making it the largest and most recent strewn field globally. This study provides a comprehensive analysis of the elemental composition and texture of tektites recovered from various locations within the strewn field, particularly ...

Jet rotation driven by MHD shocks in helical magnetic fields [PDF]
In this paper we present a detailed numerical investigation of the hypothesis that a rotation of astrophysical jets can be caused by magnetohydrodynamic shocks in a helical magnetic field. Shock compression of the helical magnetic field results in a toroidal Lorentz force component which will accelerate the jet material in toroidal direction.

Abstract This study investigated electron phase space densities (PSDs) in geostationary orbits using data from Korea's geostationary satellite, GK2A, as well as GOES‐16 and GOES‐17 satellites. The PSDs were computed from electron fluxes measured by each satellite during a geomagnetically quiet period as defined by stringent conditions on geomagnetic ...
