Critical comments on publications by S. Hoffmann and N. Vogt on historical novae/supernovae and their candidates

open access: yesAstronomische Nachrichten, Volume 342, Issue 4, Page 675-695, May 2021., 2021
Abstract We critically discuss recent articles by S. Hoffmann and N. Vogt on historical novae and supernovae (SNe) as well as their list of “24 most promising events” “with rather high probability to be a nova” (Hoffmann et al., AN, 2020, 341, 79 (P3)).

Imaging VGOS Observations and Investigating Source Structure Effects

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 126, Issue 4, April 2021., 2021
Abstract The next‐generation, broadband geodetic very long baseline interferometry system, named VGOS, is being developed globally with an aim to achieve 1 mm accuracy for station positions. Currently, the systematic errors in VGOS broadband delays are still about 20 ps.

The 3rd AGILE Terrestrial Gamma‐ray Flashes Catalog. Part II: Optimized Selection Criteria and Characteristics of the New Sample

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 125, Issue 11, 16 June 2020., 2020
Abstract We present in this work the third catalog of terrestrial gamma‐ray flashes (TGFs) by the AGILE mission and the new search algorithm that was developed to produce it. We firstly introduce the new selection criteria, designed from the characteristics of WWLLN‐identified TGFs, and then applied on all data from March 2015 to September 2018 ...

Supergravity Model of Inflation and Explaining IceCube HESE Data via PeV Dark Matter Decay

open access: yesAdvances in High Energy Physics, Volume 2020, Issue 1, 2020., 2020
We construct a unified model of inflation and PeV dark matter with an appropriate choice of no‐scale Kähler potential, superpotential, and gauge kinetic function in terms of MSSM fields and hidden sector Polonyi field. The model is consistent with the CMB observations and can explain the PeV neutrino flux observed at IceCube HESE.

Decade‐long X‐ray observations of HESS J0632+057

open access: yesAstronomische Nachrichten, Volume 340, Issue 6, Page 465-474, July 2019., 2019
Abstract We present the results of a decade of X‐ray observations of the gamma ray loud binary HESS J0632+057 and interpret the available broadband data in view of the system geometry and emission mechanisms. We have performed an analysis of all X‐ray data available to date from Swift, XMM‐Newton, Chandra, NuSTAR, and Suzaku.

Impact of Cosmic‐Ray Physics on Dark Matter Indirect Searches

open access: yesAdvances in High Energy Physics, Volume 2018, Issue 1, 2018., 2018
The quest for the elusive dark matter (DM) that permeates the Universe (and in general the search for signatures of physics beyond the Standard Model at astronomical scales) provides a unique opportunity and a tough challenge to the high energy astrophysics community.

Growth of Accreting Supermassive Black Hole Seeds and Neutrino Radiation

open access: yesJournal of Astrophysics, Volume 2015, Issue 1, 2015., 2015
In the framework of microscopic theory of black hole (MTBH), which explores the most important processes of rearrangement of vacuum state and spontaneous breaking of gravitation gauge symmetry at huge energies, we have undertaken a large series of numerical simulations with the goal to trace an evolution of the mass assembly history of 377 plausible ...

Optimized Reputable Sensing Participants Extraction for Participatory Sensor Networks

open access: yesMathematical Problems in Engineering, Volume 2014, Issue 1, 2014., 2014
By collecting data via sensors embedded personal smart devices, sensing participants play a key role in participatory sensor networks. Using information provided by reputable sensing participants ensures the reliability of participatory sensing data.

Coherent imaging at the Diamond beamline I13

open access: yesphysica status solidi (a), Volume 208, Issue 11, Page 2522-2525, November 2011., 2011
Abstract The Diamond beamline I13 for imaging and coherence applications is dedicated to hard X‐ray imaging on the micro and nano‐lengthscale. Two independent stations will be operated in a separate building at a distance of 250 m from the source. The imaging branch will perform in‐line phase contrast imaging and tomography over a large field of view ...

Overview of the Near‐IR S0 Galaxy Survey (NIRS0S)

open access: yesAdvances in Astronomy, Volume 2011, Issue 1, 2011., 2011
An overview of the results of the near‐IR S0 galaxy survey (NIRS0S) is presented. NIRS0S is a magnitude‐ (mB ⩽ 12.5 mag) and inclination‐ (<65∘) limited sample of ̃200 nearby galaxies, mainly S0s, but includes also Sa and E galaxies. It uses deep Ks‐band images, typically reaching a surface brightness of 23.5 mag arcsec−2.
