LOFAR Discovery of a 23.5 s Radio Pulsar [PDF]

open access: yesAstrophysical Journal, 2018
We present the discovery of PSR J0250+5854, a radio pulsar with a spin period of 23.5 s. This is the slowest-spinning radio pulsar known. PSR J0250+5854 was discovered by the LOFAR Tied-Array All-Sky Survey (LOTAAS), an all-northern-sky survey for ...

HATS-60b–HATS-69b: 10 Transiting Planets from HATSouth [PDF]

open access: yesAstronomical Journal, 2018
We report the discovery of 10 transiting extrasolar planets by the HATSouth survey. The planets range in mass from the super-Neptune HATS-62b, with , to the super-Jupiter HATS-66b, with , and in size from the Saturn HATS-69b, with , to the inflated ...

The Long-term Spectral Changes of Eta Carinae: Are they Caused by a Dissipating Occulter as Indicated by cmfgen Models? [PDF]

open access: yesAstrophysical Journal, 2022
Eta Carinae (η Car) exhibits a unique set of P Cygni profiles with both broad and narrow components. Over many decades, the spectrum has changed—there has been an increase in observed continuum fluxes and a decrease in Fe ii and H i emission-line ...

Hot subdwarf binaries from the MUCHFUSS project Analysis of 12 new systems and a study of the short-period binary population [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The project Massive Unseen Companions to Hot Faint Underluminous Stars from SDSS (MUCHFUSS) aims at finding hot subdwarf stars with massive compact companions like massive white dwarfs (M > 1.0 M⊙), neutron stars, or stellar-mass black holes.

The 3rd AGILE Terrestrial Gamma‐ray Flashes Catalog. Part II: Optimized Selection Criteria and Characteristics of the New Sample

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 125, Issue 11, 16 June 2020., 2020
Abstract We present in this work the third catalog of terrestrial gamma‐ray flashes (TGFs) by the AGILE mission and the new search algorithm that was developed to produce it. We firstly introduce the new selection criteria, designed from the characteristics of WWLLN‐identified TGFs, and then applied on all data from March 2015 to September 2018 ...

Supergravity Model of Inflation and Explaining IceCube HESE Data via PeV Dark Matter Decay

open access: yesAdvances in High Energy Physics, Volume 2020, Issue 1, 2020., 2020
We construct a unified model of inflation and PeV dark matter with an appropriate choice of no‐scale Kähler potential, superpotential, and gauge kinetic function in terms of MSSM fields and hidden sector Polonyi field. The model is consistent with the CMB observations and can explain the PeV neutrino flux observed at IceCube HESE.

X-ray detection of warm ionized matter in the Galactic halo [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We report on a systematic investigation of the cold and mildly ionized gaseous baryonic metal components of our Galaxy, through the analysis of high resolution Chandra and XMM-Newton spectra of two samples of Galactic and extragalactic sources.

Diffuse low-ionization gas in the galactic halo casts doubts on z ≃ 0.03 WHIM detections [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In this Letter we demonstrate that the two claims of $z\simeq 0.03$ OVII K$\alpha$ absorption lines from Warm Hot Intergalactic Medium (WHIM) along the lines of sight to the blazars H~2356-309 (Buote et al., 2009; Fang et al., 2010) and Mkn~501 (Ren ...

LeMMINGs IV: The X-ray properties of a statistically-complete sample of the nuclei in active and inactive galaxies from the Palomar sample [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
All 280 of the statistically-complete Palomar sample of nearby (20◦ have been observed at 1.5GHz as part of the LeMMINGs e-MERLIN legacy survey. Here, we present Chandra X-ray observations of the nuclei of 213 of these galaxies, including a statistically-

X-ray bursting neutron star atmosphere models using an exact relativistic kinetic equation for Compton scattering [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Theoretical spectra of X-ray bursting neutron star (NS) model atmospheres are widely used to determine the basic NS parameters such as their masses and radii.
