The Saccharomyces cerevisiae amino acid transporter Lyp1 has a broad substrate spectrum

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Yeast Amino acid Transporter family members mediate the import of amino acids, ranging from substrate specialists to generalists. Here, we show that the specialist transporter, Lyp1, has a broader substrate spectrum than previously described, with affinity constants spanning from micromolar to millimolar.

New Subclass Framework and Concrete Examples of Strongly Asymmetric Public Key Agreement

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
Strongly asymmetric public key agreement (SAPKA) is a class of key exchange between Alice and Bob that was introduced in 2011. The greatest difference from the standard PKA algorithms is that Bob constructs multiple public keys and Alice uses one of ...

Multiplex single‐cell profiling of putative cancer stem cell markers ALDH1, SOX9, SOX2, CD44, CD133 and CD15 in endometrial cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cancer stem cells are associated with aggressive disease, but a deep characterization of such markers is lacking in endometrial cancer. This study uses imaging mass cytometry to explore putative cancer stem cell markers in endometrial tumors and corresponding organoid models.

ThelR547v1—An Asymmetric Dilated Convolutional Neural Network for Real-time Semantic Segmentation of Horticultural Crops

open access: yesSensors, 2022
Robust and automated image segmentation in high-throughput image-based plant phenotyping has received considerable attention in the last decade. The possibility of this approach has not been well studied due to the time-consuming manual segmentation and ...

The asymmetric Wigner bilayer [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Chemical Physics, 2018
We present a comprehensive discussion of the so-called asymmetric Wigner bilayer system, where mobile point charges, all of the same sign, are immersed into the space left between two parallel, homogeneously charged plates (with possibly different charge densities).

Targeting the MDM2‐MDM4 interaction interface reveals an otherwise therapeutically active wild‐type p53 in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigates an alternative approach to reactivating the oncosuppressor p53 in cancer. A short peptide targeting the association of the two p53 inhibitors, MDM2 and MDM4, induces an otherwise therapeutically active p53 with unique features that promote cell death and potentially reduce toxicity towards proliferating nontumor cells.

Influence of friction coefficient asymmetry on vibration and stability of rolling mills during hot rolling

open access: yes工程科学学报, 2019
The modern rolling industry has improved product quality, and the technical requirements of high accuracy and high dynamic performance have made the issue of rolling mill vibration more prominent.

Gain-Scheduled Control of Asymmetric Thrust Magnetic Bearing

open access: yesActuators, 2021
The thrust position of the magnetic levitation rotor can be changed, bringing convenience to the practical application of cold compressors. This paper derives the mathematical model of asymmetric thrust magnetic bearings for a cold compressor and ...

Asymmetric normed Baire space [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
We prove that an asymmetric normed space is never a Baire space if the topology induced by the asymmetric norm is not equivalent to the topology of a norm. More precisely, we show that a biBanach asymmetric normed space is a Baire space if and only if it is isomorphic to its associated normed space.
