Design of activated carbon/activated carbon asymmetric capacitors [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Materials, 2016
Supercapacitors are energy storage devices that offer a high power density and a low energy density in comparison with batteries. Their limited energy density can be overcome by using asymmetric configuration in mass electrodes, where each electrode ...

Solid asymmetric electrochemical capacitors using proton-conducting polymer electrolytes

open access: yesElectrochemistry Communications, 2010
Abstract Solid asymmetric electrochemical capacitors (EC) using polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)–heteropoly acid (HPA) electrolytes and RuO 2 –graphite electrodes were developed. The devices were about 0.2 mm thick and had a working voltage window of 0–1.5 V, 50% wider than that of any proton-conducting symmetric EC.

Overrated energy storage performances of dielectrics seriously affected by fringing effect and parasitic capacitance [PDF]

open access: yesNature Communications
Dielectric capacitors are vital for modern power and electronic systems, and accurate assessment of their dielectric properties is paramount. However, in many prevailing reports, the fringing effect near electrodes and parasitic capacitance in the test ...

Characterisation of anomalous forces on asymmetric high‐voltage capacitors

open access: yesIET Science, Measurement & Technology, 2016
In this study, the authors analysed an anomalous force observed in asymmetric capacitors, working in high electric potentials. From a lot of experimental measurements performed in their asymmetric capacitor, they detected real variations of the device inertia. An empirical formula of the developed force according to Clausius–Mossotti relation explained

Boosting resonant switched-capacitor voltage tripler [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Electrical Engineering, 2023
This elaboration presents the concept of a unidirectional DC–DC switchedcapacitor converter operating as a voltage tripler. The system consists of two resonant cells with switched capacitors and chokes.
