A High Step-Up Interleaved Current-Fed Resonant Converter for High-Voltage Applications

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
A current-fed LLC resonant converter is proposed for high-voltage and high-power applications. Here, a two-phase interleaved structure is used in the input stage under the continuous conduction mode (CCM) to effectively reduce the input current and ...

On the propulsive force developed by asymmetric capacitors in a vacuum

open access: yesPhysics Procedia, 2011
AbstractThe present work provides a detailed analysis of already published reports on the observation of an anomalous force in a vacuum associated with vacuum sparks in asymmetric capacitors charged with “constant” high voltages. Known experimental details of these experiments are put forward and propulsion performance is compared with the only known ...

Planar Solid‐State Nanopores Toward Scalable Nanofluidic Integration Based on CMOS Technology

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We present a scalable silicon‐based fabrication strategy for planar solid‐state nanopores to enable their integration with complex nanofluidic systems. Prototype devices demonstrate normal voltage‐current characteristics, good noise performance, and appreciable streaming currents. Our CMOS‐compatible fabrication process offers precise geometric control

Incorporation of Selenium into Sol–Gel‐Derived Bioactive Glass: Influence on Glass Structure, Bioactivity, and its Selective Cytotoxicity

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Selenium was incorporated into a sol–gel‐derived bioactive glass to enable sustained therapeutic ion release. The selenium‐containing glass preserved bioactivity while selectively inducing cytotoxicity in osteosarcoma cells and maintaining osteoblastic viability.

From Food to Power: Hydrogel Thermoelectrics for Ingestible Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We introduce a fully edible thermoelectric–electrochromic platform that harvests heat from food and converts it into a visible color change. N‐type and p‐type hydrogel thermoelectric generators connected in series power anthocyanin‐based electrochromic displays, demonstrating the feasibility of safe, biodegradable, ingestible systems for on‐food ...

On the nature of the propulsive force of asymmetric capacitors in the atmosphere

open access: yesPhysics Procedia, 2011
AbstractThe present work intends to identify the nature of the propulsive force that occurs during a positive corona discharge in nitrogen gas around an asymmetric capacitor geometry. Using the known theory of electrohydrodynamics (EHD) and electrostatics it is possible to compute all hydrodynamic and electrostatic forces that act on the considered ...
