Asymmetric Price Effects of Competition [PDF]
AbstractWhen price dispersion is prevalent, a relevant question is what happens to the whole distribution of equilibrium prices when the number of firms changes. Using data from the gasoline market in the Netherlands, we find, first, that markets with N competitors have price distributions that first‐order stochastically dominate the price ...

Asymmetric contextual effects in age perception [PDF]
Perception is context dependent. For example, the perceived orientation of a bar changes depending on the presence of oriented bars around it. Contextual effects have also been demonstrated for more complex judgements, such as facial attractiveness or expression, although it remains unclear how these contextual facial effects depend on the types of ...

Spin-Asymmetric Josephson Effect [PDF]
The Josephson effect is a manifestation of the macroscopic phase coherence of superconductors and superfluids. We propose that with ultracold Fermi gases one can realise a spin-asymmetric Josephson effect in which the two spin components of a Cooper pair are driven asymmetrically - corresponding to driving a Josephson junction of two superconductors ...

Asymmetric Network Effects [PDF]
When platforms compete for consumers, two types of consumer heterogeneity will matter: consumers value the presence of other consumers on a platform differently, and consumers contribute to the value of the platform differently. The optimal discriminatory pricing policy for platforms will depend on whether those two dimensions of consumer heterogeneity

Asymmetrical cross-language priming effects [PDF]
Three experiments were conducted to examine cross-language priming in bilinguals. The first was a cross-language primed lexical decision task experiment with Chinese-English bilinguals. Subjects made lexical decisions about primary associate targets in the two languages at the same rate, but priming occurred only when the prime was in their first ...

Asymmetric aging effect on modern microprocessors
Reliability is a crucial requirement in any modern microprocessor to assure correct execution over its lifetime. As mission critical components are becoming common in commodity systems; e.g., control of autonomous cars, the demand for reliable processing has even further heightened.

The asymmetric Goos–Hänchen effect [PDF]
We show in which conditions optical gaussian beams, propagating throughout an homogeneous dielectric right angle prism, present an asymmetric Goos-H\"anchen (GH) effect. This asymmetric behavior is seen for incidence at critical angles and happens in the propagation direction of the outgoing beam.

Kinetic Isotope Effects in Asymmetric Reactions [PDF]
AbstractKinetic isotope effects are exquisitely sensitive probes of transition structure. As such, kinetic isotope effects offer a uniquely useful probe for the symmetry‐breaking process that is inherent to stereoselective reactions. In this Concept article, we explore the role of steric and electronic effects in stereocontrol, and we relate these ...

Asymmetric nuclear matter in a Hartree-Fock approach to non-linear QHD [PDF]
The Equation of State (EOS) for asymmetric nuclear matter is discussed starting from a phenomenological hadronic field theory of Serot-Walecka type including exchange terms.
