Asymmetric Consumption Effects of Transitory Income Shocks [PDF]
Abstract We use the responses of a representative sample of Dutch households to survey questions that ask how much their consumption would change in response to unexpected, transitory income shocks (positive or negative). The questionnaire also distinguishes between relatively small income changes (a one-month increase or drop in income),

A metaphor for adiabatic evolution to symmetry [PDF]
In this paper we study a Hamiltonian system with a spatially asymmetric potential. We are interested in the effects on the dynamics when the potential becomes symmetric slowly in time. We focus on a highly simplified non-trivial model problem (a metaphor)

Economic policy uncertainty, sentiment and Brazilian stock market performance
The aim of this article was to investigate the causal relationships between economic policy uncertainty, investor sentiment, and the performance of the Brazilian market, while taking into account the presence of asymmetries and both short- and long-term ...

The Impact of Oil Shocks on Housing Price in Iran [PDF]
Nowadays housing is not considered merely as a matter of shelter anymore. But it is also considered as a political and economic commodity. Not only housing is one of the most important assets for householders, who hold it to accept higher risks in ...

Asymmetric Effects of Exchange Rate Shocks on Urban Household Health Expenditures in Iran [PDF]
Background: The evidence of Iran's economy shows that many economic variables, including household health expenditures, can be affected by exchange rate shocks.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Asymmetric Switch Costs as Sequential Difficulty Effects [PDF]
When switching between tasks of unequal difficulty, there is often a larger switch cost for the easy task than for the difficult task. The authors propose a new account of these asymmetric switch costs based on sequential difficulty effects. They argue that the asymmetry arises from impaired performance after a difficult trial regardless of whether ...

Unobserved component models with asymmetric conditional variances [PDF]
Unobserved component models with GARCH disturbances are extended to allow for asymmetric responses of conditional variances to positive and negative shocks. The asymmetric conditional variance is represented by a member of the QARCH class of models.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.
