This paper presents a novel approach to reducing oxide layers on metal powders using low‐temperature hydrogen dielectric barrier discharge plasmas at atmospheric pressure. Unlike conventional hydrogen‐plasma reductions, the powders do not contact the plasma directly.

The density response of charged liquids contains a collective excitation known as the plasmon. In holographic systems with translational invariance the origin of this collective excitation is traced back to the presence of zero-sound. Using a holographic

Symmetric and asymmetric excitations of a strong-leg quantum spin ladder
The zero-field excitation spectrum of the strong-leg spin ladder (C$_7$H$_10$N)$_2$CuBr$_4$ (DIMPY) is studied with a neutron time-of-flight technique. The spectrum is decomposed into its symmetric and asymmetric parts with respect to the rung momentum ...

Vortex rectification effects in films with periodic asymmetric pinning
We study the transport of vortices excited by an ac current in an Al film with an array of nanoengineered asymmetric antidots. The vortex response to the ac current is investigated by detailed measurements of the voltage output as a function of ac ...

Catalytic, Asymmetric Alkylation via Excited-State Iminium Ions [PDF]
The catalytic, enantioselective β-alkylation of unsaturated carbonyls is a powerful strategy for selectively installing stereocenters vicinal to carbonyls, yet it remains surprisingly elusive. In a recent publication in Nature Chemistry , Melchiorre and co-workers have introduced an elegantly simple solution that addresses this challenge by developing

The study presents biodegradable and recyclable mixed‐matrix membranes (MMMs), hydrogels, and cryogels using luminescent nanoscale metal‐organic frameworks (nMOFs) and biopolymers. These bio‐nMOF‐MMMs combine europium‐based nMOFs as probes for the status of the materials with the biopolymers agar and gelatine and present alternatives to conventional ...

Mode conversion by symmetry breaking of propagating spin waves
We study spin-wave transport in a microstructured Ni81Fe19 waveguide exhibiting broken translational symmetry. We observe the conversion of a beam profile composed of symmetric spin-wave width modes with odd numbers of antinodes n=1,3,...

The dielectric properties of clays are studied on the level of individual monolayers and functional double stacks. The material breakdown characteristics and charge storage performance are analyzed. For illustration, a defined charge pattern representing a cuneiform character is produced, written into a microscopic clay tile, referencing the origins of
