Theoretical solutions to three-dimensional asymmetrical shock/shock interaction [PDF]

open access: yesScience China Technological Sciences, 2016
This paper explores theoretical solutions to the three-dimensional (3D) shock/shock interaction induced by 3D asymmetrical intersecting compression wedges in supersonic inviscid flows. For Mach interactions, an analytical method known as spatial-dimension reduction, which transforms the problem of 3D steady shock/shock interaction into a two ...

Asymmetric effects of uncertainty shocks: Normal times and financial disruptions are different

open access: yesJournal of Macroeconomics, 2021
We examine whether the response of the euro area economy to uncertainty shocks depends on financial conditions. We find strong evidence that uncertainty shocks have much more powerful effects on key macroeconomic variables in episodes marked by financial distress than in normal times. We also document that the recovery of economic activity following an

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Asymmetric Shocks in a Currency Union with Monetary and Fiscal Handcuffs [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2010
This paper investigates the impact of the asymmetric shocks within a currency union in a framework that takes account of the zero bound constraint on policy rates, and also allows for constraints on fiscal policy. In this environment, we document that the usual optimal currency argument showing that the effects of shocks are mitigated to the extent ...

Conserved binding mode but diverse interfaces of MreC‐PBP2 interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The crystal structure of abMreC reveals a conserved two β‐barrel architecture and provides structural insights into its role within the bacterial elongasome. The abMreC–abPBP2 complex model identifies the molecular basis of MreC‐mediated PBP2 recognition, contributing to the regulation of peptidoglycan synthesis.

Emerging experimental and computational methods for studying redox‐regulated structural transitions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Redox reactions can reshape proteins and alter how they behave in cells, with important consequences for health and disease. This review explores emerging experimental and computational approaches for discovering these redox‐sensitive protein switches, revealing their structural effects, and predicting their behavior, opening new opportunities to ...

Can Soybean Tariff Shocks Trigger Abnormal Asymmetric Phenomena in Futures Markets? Evidence from the 2025 U.S.–China Trade Friction

open access: yesInternational Journal of Financial Studies
This study, set against the backdrop of escalating trade tensions between China and the United States, examines the impact of soybean tariff adjustments on the abnormal asymmetric behavior in the futures market.

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Oil Price Shocks and Macroeconomic Activities in Asean-5 Countries: A Panel VAR Approach [PDF]

open access: yesEurasian Journal of Business and Economics, 2015
The paper investigates the asymmetric effects of oil price shocks on real economic activities in ASEAN-5 from 1991 to 2014 using an unrestricted panel Vector Auto Regressive (VAR) method. Results from the impulse response function (IRFs) show evidence

Assessing the asymmetric effects of capital and money markets on economic growth in China

open access: yesHeliyon, 2022
This study examines the effects of capital and money market predictors on economic growth in China using non-linear autoregressive distributed lags and dynamic multiplier methods. Applying asymmetric techniques is based on the hypothesized linear effects
