PM Synchronous Machine Drive Response to Asymmetrical Short-Circuit Faults
IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 2014This paper investigates the impact of machine topology and parameters on the fault-mode characteristics of permanent-magnet synchronous machines (PMSMs) exposed to asymmetrical short-circuit (ASC) faults, one of the most dangerous faults in terms of peak current amplitudes and demagnetization risks.

Analysis of short-circuit asymmetrical currents in power distribution systems
2012 47th International Universities Power Engineering Conference (UPEC), 2012This work focuses on the study of electromagnetic transients existing in power systems in the occurrence of phase to ground and three phase faults, aiming to evaluate the dynamic capability of circuit breakers, switch disconnectors and current transformers.

Effect of asymmetrical dimensions in short circuit forces of power transformers
2005 International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems, 2005Calculation of the short circuit forces is very important in power transformer design. The main goal of this paper is calculation of these forces along the LV&HV windings in power transformer by using finite element method (FEM). After that, we described how forces are changing by increasing of asymmetrical dimensions and misalignment of LV&HV ...

Asymmetrical Short-Circuit Current Interruption by Synthetic Testing Method
IEEE Power Engineering Review, 1983In this paper, the authors are dealing with a problem which, up to now, has not resulted into any official recommendation, i.e the method to be used to define the transient recovery voltage to be applied further to the interruption of an asymmetrical current, on synthetic testing.

Finite element analyses of short circuit forces in power transformers with asymmetric conditions
2008 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics, 2008Short circuit forces may be destructive in a power transformer. Therefore, accurate evaluation of such forces is essential during the design and manufacturing phase. Otherwise, overestimated values may result in oversized, and in general, non-optimal design. The analytical methods are usually fast and easy to apply.

Phase-to-phase short-circuit faults in a permanent-magnet synchronous machines are quite dangerous because of the extremely high short-circuit transient current after fault. This paper presents a fault detection and identification diagnosis approach for asymmetrical faults in permanent-magnet synchronous machines, considering both inter-turn and phase ...

Abstract This paper contains a new method for analysing symmetrical and asymmetrical faults at any point in a power system, which may include several synchronous machines connected together with transmission systems. The method is developed by using the symmetrical components, the axial components and a modified compensation theorem.

This paper studies the dynamic response of the wound rotor brushless doubly-fed generator (BDFG) in asymmetrical fault conditions in the wind turbine. Physical behaviors under asymmetrical short-circuits are described by generalized analytical solutions and the relationship between flux linkage vectors is derived.

A new compact band‐pass filter based on an asymmetric short‐circuited spurline resonator
Microwave and Optical Technology Letters, 2010AbstractIn this letter, a new compact two‐pole band‐pass filter (BPF) based on an asymmetric short‐circuited spurline resonator is presented. The filter is modeled by means of a new multimodal circuit model for a microstrip to three‐line‐microstrip cross, which allows a rigorous study of a very generic new family of filters.
