Control of a trapezoidal EMF PMSG under asymmetrical faults

2015 IEEE 24th International Symposium on Industrial Electronics (ISIE), 2015
A new control of a grid connected permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) for wind turbines based on the Instantaneous Power Theory (pq Theory) is proposed. Given the PMSG trapezoidal electromotive force (EMF), the proposed pq control is advantageous over those based on the Park transformation, because it reduces the electromagnetic torque ripple

An asymmetrical fault current calculation method of synchronverter

2019 IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition (APEC), 2019
Synchronverter is subjected to a large inrush current when a short-circuit fault occurs, which may cause serious damage to the inverter and utility grid. Therefore, it is very important to figure out the fault current characteristics of synchronverter, and it is helpful for the study of restraining the fault inrush current.

A fault diagnosis algorithm for asymmetric modular architectures

IEEE Transactions on Computers, 1981
Summary: This paper is devoted to the analysis of an algorithm for the automatic fault diagnosis of asymmetric modular networks. The network model used is the one proposed by [\textit{F. P. Preparata} et al., IEEE Trans. Electron. Comput. 16, 848--854 (1967; Zbl 0189.16904)], the faults are assumed to be solid, and the Hakimi-Amin t-diagnosability ...

Transient Characteristics of Synchronverters Subjected to Asymmetric Faults

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2019
Since the large fault inrush current threatens the safety of power electronic devices, the synchronverter should have the fault ride-through (FRT) capability and should be equipped with a reliable protection system. Therefore, it is important to study the transient fault characteristics of the synchronverter and propose its fault current estimation ...

A fast simulation model of PMSG with asymmetric control during an asymmetric grid fault

2016 China International Conference on Electricity Distribution (CICED), 2016
This paper presents a fast simulation method of PMSG, which adopts positive and negative sequence current separate control strategy during an asymmetric grid fault. Based on analysis of fault characteristics, the asymmetric control strategy is developed in PSCAD, aiming to alleviate the adverse effects on converter and grid during an asymmetric grid ...

Analysis and control of Twin Wind Turbine subject to asymmetric fault

2020 IEEE Conference on Control Technology and Applications (CCTA), 2020
The concept of healthy twin wind turbines is recently studied in the literature. Control in the dq-frame, based on the symmetric of the healthy system, has been proposed. Nevertheless the robustness of such control with respect to asymmetric faults has not been studied.

The control of the asymmetric ground fault current of the line

2011 International Conference on Advanced Power System Automation and Protection, 2011
During the asymmetric ground fault, the relationship of the current through the line with the inserting voltage and the inserting inductance is analyzed and a novel control method for the asymmetric ground fault current is presented. When the ground fault occurs, the fault current can be controlled to zero and the current through the fault line can be ...

Signals Passing Through Asymmetric Faults in Transmission Lines

IEEE Sensors Journal, 2021
Unexpected results have been seen in multiple papers involving spread spectrum time domain reflectometry (SSTDR) measurements on twin lead cables with one line containing a fault. A small portion of the signal is able to transmit past the fault, reflect off the end of the cable, return back through the fault, and be recorded by the SSTDR.

Testing Comparison and Delay Faults of TCAMs With Asymmetric Cells

IEEE Transactions on Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI) Systems, 2010
Ternary content addressable memory (TCAM) is one key component in high-performance networking applications. An asymmetric TCAM cell consists of a binary content addressable memory (BCAM) bit and a mask bit. In this paper, we analyze comparison faults of the asymmetric TCAM cell based on BCAM comparison faults.
