Structural asymmetry in diencephalic regions has been reported in a number of studies since the pioneering observations by Kemali and Braitenberg, Atlas of the frog's brain. Springer Verlag: 1969. Anatomical differences between the left and right habenulae have been identified in many lower vertebrate species.

Orthognathic surgery in asymmetric cases is challenging because of diversity and individuality. Clinical observations are of paramount importance and need to be systemically thorough. Three-dimensional diagnosis and virtual planning have been proven extremely helpful in facilitating treatment toward symmetry in difficult cases with increasing precision.

Tympanometric asymmetry was investigated in 17 normal adult subjects. Experimental variables included transmission quantity, probe frequency, direction of pressure change, and type of probe tip. Tympanograms were characterized by systematic asymmetries that appeared to be related predominantly to middle-ear effects, although ear canal effects probably ...

Bilateral variations in dimensions of upper and lower limb bones are attributable to difference in mechanical stress and strain that the bones are subjected to during bone growth, and is referred to as directional asymmetry. This skeletal asymmetry in the upper limbs is usually prominent on the dominant side while in lower limbs on the other side ...

Tongue contact patterns for /s/ and /l/ were investigated using dynamic palatography. Both spatial and temporal asymmetries were commonly found extending into the vocalic transitions for these consonants. Implications for the adequacy of tongue motion data taken in a single midsagittal plane are discussed, as well as for articulatory interpretation of ...

Are Craniofacial Asymmetries Related to Trunk Asymmetries?
Journal of Craniofacial SurgeryObjective: The aim of this study was to investigate whether craniofacial asymmetries could be a predictor of spine asymmetries or not. Methods: Female individuals aged between 18 and 25 years participated in this cross-sectional descriptive-analytic study.

A case of monostotic, mandibular fibrous dysplasia has been described in a 22-year-old Amerasian male, who had facial asymmetry of approximately 5 years' duration. Foci of ill-defined sclerotic, pagetoid calcifications were seen on routine film. The CT scans demonstrated bone facial and slight lingual expansion of bone with thinning of the cortex.

Cladistics, 1998
In Colless’ (1995,Syst. Biol. 44, 102–108) results, cladograms for randomly generated matrices were strongly asymmetrical, and he used this to maintain that real cladograms provide little evidence on asymmetry of phylogeny. His position, however, depended on retaining poorly supported groups as if they were well‐supported.

Skull asymmetry in various sheep breeds: Directional asymmetry and fluctuating asymmetry
Anatomia, Histologia, EmbryologiaAbstractSheep (Ovis aries) play an important role in the economy of Turkey and the Balkan Peninsula due to their use in farming. As a domesticated species, sheep's morphometric and morphological diversity is likely determined by selective breeding practices rather than geographic distribution.

In the present study, the relationship between the location of tinnitus and the location of the greater hearing impairment was investigated. 62 subjects suffering from tinnitus underwent audiometric testing and were required to identify the location of their tinnitus. All of the subjects had a history of exposure to loud noise. The results of the study
